Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

Happy Halloween! Follow along with us for the next two hours of Smackdown. Will The Big Show regret attacking Triple H and The Undertaker or will The Game be gunning for Vladimir Kozlov instead…

THE WORLD IS WATCHING!

The show opens with the promise of a Casket Match tonight on the Halloween edition of Smackdown. The Big Show is on camera holding his throat and choking, speaking in a whisper, but I think he is talking about The Undertaker. Vickie Guerrero, with Chavo standing by, and she proceeds to tell us a scary story about what will happen to Taker tonight but there is a twist…Chavo will be facing Undertaker in the Casket Match.

Smackdown is brought to you from San Diego, CA, on MyNetworkTV and our ringside announcers are Jim Ross in a sailor costume and Tazz in Army fatigues.

Tag Team Match: John Morrison and The Miz vs. Primo and Carlito, WWE Tag Team Champions

The bell rings and Morrison with his glittery abs, takes on Primo. Primo goes for an early cover but John kicks out and Primo tags in Carlito. Carlito goes for the tag and again Morrison kicks out. Carlito delivers a nice clothesline and goes for the cover, getting two, but Morrison sends him into the ropes and tags in Miz. Carlito delivers an arm drag and goes for the cover, getting a two before tagging in Primo. The brothers double team, sending Miz over the top rope and doing the same with Morrison when he enters the ring and we go to commercial break.

Back to the ring, Miz and Primo are in the ring with Primo going for a cover. Miz kicks out, Primo tags in Carlito and teamwork again allows Carlito to go for a cover, getting a two. Miz tags in Morrison who delivers a series of hits in the corner. Carlito gets the upper hand, tags, in Primo and drops him on John. Primo gets a two. Miz gets involved from outside, Morrison springboards off the ropes and delivers a kick to the head, goes for the cover and gets a two. With the referee’s back turned, Miz delivers a kick to the head, Morrison goes for the cover and gets two. The crowd gets behind Primo but Morrison tags in Miz before Primo can get to his corner. Miz delivers a leg drop, goes for the cover, getting two. Miz delivers a fist to the head and applies a Full Nelson, Primo rolls Miz over and tags in Carlito. Carlito takes John off the ring apron, delivers a power bomb and gets two before Miz kicks out. Primo takes out Morrison, Miz takes out Primo, Morrison pulls the second rope when Carlito goes for a springboard, Miz delivers a neck breaker and gets the three and the win.

Winners: The Miz and John Morrison with a cheat and a neck breaker.

Carlito and Primo work very well together and seem to get better each time I see them in the ring. Morrison and Miz are not my favorite tag team although I think Morrison is very talented as a singles wrestler. We go to commercial break.

A special hello to Sean Courage who not only wrestles, he likes big dogs (I’m not talking about Lawler’s favorite puppies, I’m talking about real canines!) and Chance.

Festus and Jesse are backstage with Maria and her friend, The Masked Magician. Maria gets in the magic box and when it is opened again, PRESTO! She’s all twisted and Jesse tells the magician to fix her or else. He does.

John Wayne Yang and we go to commercial break.

vs. “The” Brian Kendrick with Ezekiel Jackson

Kendrick didn’t come dressed for Halloween and we have a shoving match with TBK having a tough time keeping up with John Wayne. Yang delivers a leg sweep and a drop kick but is distracted by Zeke and gets caught be Brian. Kendrick goes to work on the arm and shoulder but misses a knee drop off the ropes and is caught by a boot to the back of the head. Yang goes for the cover and gets two. Jimmy delivers a high leg in the corner, comes off the top with a cross body and gets another two. Yang gets send face first into the middle turnbuckle, Brian goes for The Kendrick but John Wayne counters with a moonsault and gets two before Jackson pulls TBK out of the ring. The ref calls for a DQ, giving Yang the win.

Winner: John Wayne Yang aka Jimmy Wang Yang via disqualification

These two were both quick and agile in the ring. Yang looked better than he looked the last time I saw him in the ring and Kendrick is always on top of his game. The Great Khali and Ranjin Singh are backstage with Kung Fu Naki. Khali tells Naki that size matters and we go to commercial break.

Monday night, Paul Marshall calls the action on Pulse Wrestling’s Real-Time WWE Raw Report. Next Monday night, Mr. Marshall will be covering the Raw 3 Hour Special!

Khali and Ranjin are ready for the Kiss Cam and the chick they pick is dressed as the Wicked Witch! Beatrix is overly excited about getting a Khali smooch but Khali doesn’t look very happy about it. She gets a quickie kiss but she wants a French kiss from The Punjabi Playboy and, after some encouragement from the audience, he delivers. We go to commercial break.

Smack of the Night: Kung Fu Naki and R-Truth defeated MVP and “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin.

6-Main Tag Team Match: Kane, “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry with Tony Atlas and Montel Vontavious Porter vs. Matt Hardy, ECW Champion, Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio.

Hurrapop (Shane Helms) appears in a corner of the screen during the introductions. Is it my imagination or is one size outweighed by quite a bit? Mysterio gets a major pop in his hometown. Matt and Henry face off as the bell rings with Hardy delivering fists but Mark slams him to the mat. Henry misses an elbow drop, Matt tags in Jeff and the Hardys double team Henry before Jeff tags in Matt. Mark tags in MVP but MVP misses a knee drop and Hardy tags in Mysterio who comes in flying high, delivers a kick to the head and goes for a cover, getting two. Rey tags in Matt, Jeff gets involved and Mysterio delivers a cross body block, goes for the cover and gets two. Kane and Mark are sent to the floor. Rey sets MVP up for the 619 but Kane drags him out to the floor and we go to commercial break in the middle of the match. Again.

Back to the action, MVP has Mysterio down on the mat and goes for the cover but Rey kicks out and Porter tags in The Big Red Machine. Kane slams Mysterio to the mat, goes for the cover and gets two before tagging in Henry. Mark stands on Rey’s chest, picks him and slams him to the mat. Henry goes for the cover and gets two and tags in Montel. Porter applies a bear hug and Mysterio is back to his feet, fighting back with elbows but gets send to the mat with a body drop. MVP tags in Kane. Rey delivers a neck breaker and crawls to tag Jeff as Kane tags in Porter. Hardy delivers the Whisper in the Wind and goes for the cover but MVP kicks out. Mysterio takes out Kane, Matt takes out Henry, Matt delivers the twist of fate, Jeff delivers the Swanton bomb and gets the win.

Jeff and Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio with a nice combination of moves.

Mysterio is obviously on Smackdown tonight since the show is being broadcast from San Diego but this match went at a quicker pace than I thought it would. We go to commercial break.

On Tuesday night, Paul Marshall pulls double duty with Pulse Wrestling’s Real-Time ECW Report!

We see a video of Kizarny at Barnum’s Barnyard with sword swallowers. I hope Kizarny knows how to wrestle went he gets to Smackdown.

Vladimir Kozlov is in the ring with a mic and Hurrapop appears in the corner of our screen to make fun of Kozlov. Vlad just wants to demand that Triple H give him the opportunity to get the title belt. HHH enters the ring to discuss the challenge. The Game tells “Boris” if he wants to fight, they need to do it but Kozlov doesn’t just want to fight, he wants to fight for the WWE Championship. HHH gives Vlad a lesson on the history of the Rocky movies and tells him that if he wants a match, to take it up with Vickie. It’s stare down time in the center of the ring but Kozlov backs down and exits. We go to commercial break.

“Prime Cut” Jon Cutler signed a deal with WWE Developmental and is heading to Florida. You can catch some of his recent matches on YouTube…his match against “The Outaw” Adam Knight comes highly recommended

We see another long video of the soon to return to action John Cena.

6-Diva Tag Team Match: Maria, Brie Bella, and Michelle McCool, Diva’s Champion vs. Natalya, Victoria and Maryse

Help me. Seriously. It’s a costume contest and I’m not even going to describe them. Hurrapop pops up to tell the Divas they always make him pop up. And there went my high opinion of Helms. Maryse delivers a back breaker to Bella and gets two and Victoria gets the tag. She goes for the cover and gets two but she throws Brie out of the ring and she attempts to crawl under the ring but Victoria gets kicked by not Bella under the ring and McCool gets the tag. Maria tags herself in, comes off with a cross body block and gets the win.

Winners: Maria, Brie and McCool with a cross body block

I didn’t see anything worth writing about in this match and we go to commercial break.

Casket Match: Chavo Guerrero vs. The Undertaker

Taker’s entrance will be a little longer than usual because the casket has to come out first. Don’t worry, though. I think we have time for one more commercial break before the end of the show. Before the match begins, Show comes out to watch the match and we go to commercial break.

With 6 minutes left, we are back. The bell rings but Taker is busy trying to decide whether to take on Chavo or watch Big Show outside the ring. Guerrero catches a boot, his head meets the top turnbuckle and then is tossed out of the ring. Undertaker goes out and sends Chavo into the guardrail and that left a mark! Guerrero is dropped head first onto the top of the casket and Taker has Chavo’s head under the lid and is pounding on the lid. The Dead Man continues to pound on Guerrero but turns to head up the ramp after Show. He turns back to Chavo and misses a kick, catching the casket instead, giving Guerrero a chance to come back. Chavo comes off the ring apron but Taker catches him and slams him back first into the casket and Taker wants the lid to the casket opened. Guerrero delivers a DDT and motions to Show to help him. Chavo comes back in with a steel chair, but Taker ducks out of the way and delivers a splash in the corner. Undertaker follows up with snake eyes, picks up Guerrero but Big Show shuts the casket lid and Chavo nails taker with the chair. Taker turns around and delivers a choke slam and now Show is in the ring working over Undertaker. Taker is back to his feet and both men are delivering punches but Show delivers two head butts that drop The Dead Man. Show charges, goes over the top rope and lands on the casket and heads back up the ramp. Taker picks up Chavo, delivers the tombstone piledriver and rolls Guerrero into the casket before slamming the lid shut.

Winner: The Undertaker

This was obviously not the best casket match Undertaker has handled but it was a nice wrap up for the show tonight and a build up to the feud between Taker and Show. Vickie tells Kozlov if he defeats Undertaker next week, he can face HHH at Survivor Series for the title.
