Pulse Wrestling’s Real-Time Smackdown Report 11/07/2008

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

Last week on Smackdown, General Manager Vickie Guerrero told “The Moscow Mauler” Vladimir Kozlov if he defeated The Undertaker, he would get his chance to face “The Game” Triple H for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series. Will Kozlov face Taker tonight or will Big Show get in the way…

THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!

The show opens with a partial replay of last week’s Casket Match between Undertaker and Chavo Guerrero. In case you missed it, Taker won even after interference from Big Show.

Smackdown is brought to us tonight from Orlando, FL on MyNetworkTV and our ringside announcers are Jim Ross and Tazz. Montel Vontavious Porter is in the ring for “Big things poppin’, little things stoppin’” in the VIP Lounge. MVP complains about his losing streak and the fact that Hurricane Helms keeps popping up on the screen to make fun of him. The Great Khali and Ranjin Singh interrupt for The Khali Kiss Cam…I hope he isn’t going to kiss MVP! Porter throws down his mic and leaves. The victim, er, chosen one is wearing an ECW shirt…wrong show! But wait! One woman is not enough for Khali. We now have two women in the ring. I don’t mind The Punjabi Playboy doing a face turn but these Kiss Cams are a little long. Montel is standing on the ramp and the faces he makes says it all…MVP does reenter the ring and deliver a couple of blows to Khali before bailing out again. Porter charges into Vickie’s office to complain about what just happened but Vickie tells him if doesn’t win at Survivor Series, he will have to pay back his signing bonus and tonight he will face Khali.

United States Championship Match: R-Truth vs. “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin©

Truth is pushing for the longest entrance to the ring as he makes his way through the audience and sings his entrance theme. JR takes the lengthy opportunity to remind everyone about Wrestlemania. The bell rings and Benjamin takes Truth down to the mat. Truth makes it to his feet, drops Shelton and goes for a cover, getting two. Truth comes off the ropes and gets caught in a rib breaker. Benjamin delivers a side rib breaker and maintains pressure. Back to his feet, Truth gets out of the way and Shelton hits the corner post. Truth comes back with a high kick, goes for the cover and gets two. Truth delivers his flying corkscrew forearm off the ropes and again goes for the cover with Benjamin kicking out. Shelton catches a boot and rolls outside but Truth comes over the top rope and takes Benjamin down to the floor. Truth goes to the top and comes off with a missile drop kick, goes for the cover and it’s two. Shelton hits the Paydirt and gets three.

Winner and still Champion: Shelton Benjamin

As much as I like Benjamin and the match was entertaining, I have seen him do much better. “The” Brian Kendrick with Ezekiel Jackson in tow gets in Jimmy Wang Yang’s face with some biblical mumbo jumbo and we go to commercial break.

Congratulations to Judas for plowing his way through numerous opponents to bring home the WAW Joe Williams Memorial Trophy for Student of the Weekend. Actually “plowing” may be putting it mildly!

Hurricane Helms appears on our screen to tell Jackson that Michael Phelps wants his tights back.

Ezekiel Jackson with “The Brian Kendrick” vs. Jimmy Wang Yang

I see a squash coming but Yang is quick and he goes after the legs but gets caught. Zeke delivers a squash in the corner before tossing Jimmy across the ring. I’m not sure what kind of slam Jackson uses but he gets the cover and three.

Winner: Ezekiel Jackson.

The only good thing about this match was being able to watch Kendrick dance around the ring after the match was over. We see a video of Vladimir Kozlov, “The Moscow Mauler” and are reminded that he has a match with Undertaker tonight and we go to commercial break.

Tazz tells us AC/DC is doing the official Survivor Series theme song. Michelle McCool and Eve Torres are backstage and McCool tells Torres that Maria is missing a little something upstairs…really?

Raw Rebound: The Steel Cage Match between Batista and Chris Jericho. Jericho walked away with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt. It was a short match but Jericho did a good job and we see that John Cena will be back to face Jericho for that title at Survivor Series.

Jeff Hardy is backstage with Vickie asking for another chance to try for the WWE Champion but she says he doesn’t have what it takes and that he isn’t extreme enough. Hardy tells her tonight he will blow her mind. I am thinking it but I am not saying it and we go to commercial break.

If it’s Monday, you should be right here with Paul Marshall for Pulse Wrestling’s SUPER Real-Time WWE Raw Report!

Tazz and Ross introduce the new 2009 Raw vs. Smackdown video game and for the first time ever, you can make your own tag teams. Perhaps WWE creative should be playing?

Tag Team Match: WWE Champion “The Game” Triple H and Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison and Miz

Morrison and Trips lock up with John backing Trips up in the corner. HHH comes across the ring and drops Morrison with a clothesline before tagging in Jeff. Hardy comes out with fists and kicks but misses the Twist of Fate before leaping over the top rope to take down John and Miz and we go to commercial break.

Back to the action, Miz and Hardy are in the ring with Jeff applying a headlock and then an inverted atomic drop, going for a cover and getting one. Morrison gets involved outside the ring and Hardy lands on the floor. Trips is down to check on Jeff but Miz slams Hardy into the apron. Morrison gets the tag and covers, getting two. The fans are behind Jeff, John tags in Miz, who covers and gets two before tagging in Morrison. They deliver a double gut buster and John covers for two. Hardy is back to his feet and delivers a kick and a lariat like clothesline (that’s what JR called it) but he refuses to tag in HHH. Miz misses a charge after he catches the tag, Jeff delivers a double stomp and a
Whisper in the Wind, goes for the cover and gets two. Hardy delivers a face buster, rips off his shirt, goes to the top but gets caught by John. Trips is in the ring taking down both opponents but the referee sends him back to his corner. Jeff grabs a steel chair and runs Morrison out of the ring. Not to be outdone, The Game pedigrees Miz.

Winners: John Morrison and The Miz via disqualification.

Without the commercial break in the middle, this match was worth the watch with Jeff putting his body on the line throughout the entire match. Eve is backstage with Kozlov for his rant on how he will take out Taker and then HHH for the title. We go to commercial break.

On Tuesday, Mr. Marshall entertains us again with ECW on Sci-Fi Report!

JR gives us a replay of the end of the previous match. Hardy is backstage with Vickie and asks her if that was extreme enough for her and she says that she and Kozlov have a deal so he’s out of luck. Big Show, mic in hand, appears at the top of the entrance ramp to tell us that he has a message for The Undertaker. Show says Taker gets his power from fear and Show isn’t falling for it and he is challenging him to a Casket Match and we go to commercial break. Again.

WWE Smack of the Night: A replay of The Khali Kiss Cam earlier tonight with MVP attacking Khali from behind.

Montel Vontavious Porter vs. The Great Khali with Ranjin Singh

I believe we had one squash match earlier tonight. The bell rings and MVP goes for the legs but ducks under the ropes when Khali approaches. Porter comes off the ropes but gets nailed by a big arm. Khali picks Montel up and delivers a short arm clothesline before backing him up in the corner to pound on him. The ref backs Khali up and MVP gets Khali cornered. The ref backs up Porter and he charges with a high kick to get caught by a chop. Khali delivers a choke slam and gets the three and the win.

Winner: The Great Khali.

There wasn’t enough action in this match to discuss and needless to say, I didn’t like it. Helm appears in his little pop up window again to make fun of MVP losing and we go to commercial break.

And on Thursday, you can catch Ace’s Glazer Loves Impact!

Ross reminds the audience again that Wrestlemania 25 is coming up and tickets are available tomorrow.

Brie Bella vs. Victoria with Natalya

The two women lock up when the bell rings and Victoria applies a side headlock. Bella powers out, Victoria delivers a boot and again applies the headlock. Brie tries to power out and takes Victoria down with a head scissors. Victoria is using hair and she delivers a side slam, goes for the cover and gets two. Victoria goes for the standing moonsault but Bella gets her knees up and flips Victoria across the ring. Victoria power slams Brie to the mat, covers and gets two. Bella goes for the inside cradle and gets the win.

Brie Bella with an inside cradle

The match was too short and I have no idea why Victoria and Natalya are being used as clowns. Fortunately after this match, we find out that Brie has a twin before the two of them take out Natalya and Victoria. Carlito and Primo are watching backstage and Carlito seems to be interested in the fact that the girls are twins. We then see a John Cena video before we go to commercial break.

”The Moscow Mauler” Vladimir Kozlov vs. The Undertaker

Kozlov has a very short entrance but Taker’s will take awhile. I’m anxious to see how Vladimir does in a ring with someone closer to his size, hopefully without outside interference. JR reminds us that Kozlov is undefeated and he certainly doesn’t look worried and before the match can begin, we go to commercial break!

Back to the ring, the bell rings and the two men lock up with Kozlov shoving Taker back. Undertaker returns the favor but Vlad applies a side headlock and comes off the ropes with a shoulder block that drops The Dead Man. Taker applies a headlock and comes off the ropes to drop Kozlov with a shoulder block. Undertaker applies a wrist lock but Vlad comes off the ropes to catch a boot and then is sent over the top rope. Taker goes out to the floor and slams Kozlov’s head into the apron before rolling him back into the ring. The Dead Man delivers a leg drop on the apron and gets back in the ring. The Moscow Mauler is ready for him and backs him into the corner but Taker comes across with a clothesline, covers and gets two. Vlad delivers a belly-to-belly suplex and then shoulder blocks in the corner before following up with fists. We have a slugfest in the center of the ring. Kozlov covers and gets two. The Dead Man backs Kozlov into the corner but the Mauler battles his way out. Taker comes back and delivers a squash, snakes eyes but Vlad counters with a body slam. Undertaker applies his submission move but Kozlov grabs the ropes and the ref makes him break the hold. Jeff Hardy slides into the ring with a chair to take out both Kozlov and Undertaker. Taker is back to his feet and heads to the back after Hardy. The match is given to Kozlov as a result of interference.

Vladimir Kozlov via disqualification

This was actually a decent match until the run in by Hardy. After Taker finds out that he lost the match, he delivers a choke slam to Vladimir.
