Reno 911! Picked Up By Comedy Central For a Sixth Season!

News

Comedy Central has ordered up a sixth season of Reno 911! for a 2009 premiere.

The cable network announced Monday (Nov. 10) that Reno 911! will launch a 10-episode sixth season on Thursday, March 12, 2009.

In addition to returning creator-stars Robert Ben Garant, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Thomas Lennon, the new season of Reno 911! will introduce a pair of new cops played by Ian Roberts and Joe Lo Truglio.

Roberts (Upright Citizen’s Brigade, Anchorman) will play macho, by-the-book Sergeant Jack Declan, while Lo Truglio (The State, Pineapple Express) will play rule-breaking big city cop Deputy Franky Rizzo.

“We could not be more excited to have Ian Roberts and Joe Lo Truglio join the cast of Reno 911! We’ve taken the show up a notch,” say Garant, Lennon and Kenney-Silver in a surprisingly dull statement.

Interestingly, both Roberts and Lo Truglio appeared in the feature Reno 911!: Miami, which made $20 million in its 2007 theatrical release.

The Comedy Central press release doesn’t provide any information on which additional Reno 911! cast members will be returning for the show’s sixth season. It just promises an additional season of improv comedy hijinx focusing on the “adventures and relationships of a local Reno, Nevada precinct.” The show’s most recent original episodes aired in July.

More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading!
