Pulse Wrestling’s Real-Time WWE Raw Report 11/17/1008

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

What better way to ease away the tension of the Monday workday than to follow along with us as we bring you the Raw Real-Time Report? Last week on Raw, Chris Jericho defeated “Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels with a little outside help from JBL…

Your regular Raw host, Mr. Marshall, is unavailable tonight and he asked me to fill in. No problem, Mr. Marshall, since you now owe me for the rest of your natural life, perhaps I should have said for eternity?

THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!

Raw is brought to us on the USA Network with Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler as our ringside announcers. The show opens with the ring full of the Raw roster and Stephanie McMahon to say a few words. It’s an open quorum and Orton asks why the title match goes to John Cena. Steph responds but Randy tells the rest of the roster that he is next no matter who wins. Cody wants to know why Orton wasn’t punished for attacking DiBiase and why he’s stuck with Randy. Orton will face CM Punk on Raw tonight in a 30 man lumberjack match to ensure there is a winner. Santino Marella asks his question in the form of a rap song…he wants his title back from Regal. It appears he is out of rematches. JBL, if he can be heard over the jeers of the crowd, wants to know where Mr. McMahon is because he has a problem with Shawn Michaels. Michaels doesn’t want to wait six days to face JBL…he wants him tonight but McMahon says no so he attacks JBL, the ring clears, including Layfield and we go to commercial break.

Kelly Kelly vs. Victoria representing Smackdown

I like Victoria but she hasn’t had a decent match in months. The bell rings and Victoria goes wild but it doesn’t last and then Victoria delivers a back breaker. Kelly needs higher pants. Victoria delivers a rack but Kelly kicks out. Kelly delivers a roll up and gets the three.

Winner of That Was a Match?: Kelly Kelly

Everyone should know how I feel about this joke of a match. Victoria goes on the attack and it takes three women from the back to run her out of the ring but Beth Phoenix appears so all of them can beat on Victoria. This didn’t help the lack of a match. Cole and King go over the Survivor Series matches and we go to commercial break.

On the 21st of November in Panama, Ironboy faces Vampiro, Jr. in a mask versus hair match. If you are looking for extreme…and I caution you LXN is EXTREME …you won’t want to miss it! PROMO – NOVIEMBRE NUCLEAR 2008 – LXN. El 21 de Noviembre in Panama, Ironboy se enfrenta a Vampiro Jr., en una lucha máscara contra cabellera. Si están en búsqueda de algo extremo… y les advierto, la LXN es EXTREMA… no van a querer perderse esto!

Raw Rewind: Cody Rhodes vs. Batista with Rhodes losing the match. Rhodes took the place of Randy Orton.

Batista vs. Manu with Cody Rhodes

I don’t think I’ve seen Manu wrestle before. We see a clip of Hall of Famers The Wild Samoans as Manu heads to the ring. The referee calls for the bell and Randy Orton appears at the top of the entrance ramp. This looks like it’s going to be a brawl with Manu doing the initial damage to Batista. Manu delivers a Samoan drop when he counters the Batista bomb, then delivers a nice dropkick, goes for the cover but Batista kicks out. Manu rams Batista’s shoulder into the ring post and then goes to work on the injured shoulder with a vice grip. Batista back to his feet and Manu is sent face first into the second turnbuckle. Rhodes looks worried but Manu delivers a squash, goes for the cover and gets two. Manu delivers a head butt to the shoulder, goes for another cover and again gets two. Batista comes up with a boot to the face and Manu is down, Batista follows with a spine buster, the animal is loose, but Manu counters the the Batista bomb again, only to get caught with a spear. Batista delivers the Batista bomb, covers and gets the three and the win.

Winner: Batista with a Batista bomb

This obviously was a much better match than the first match of the night. Manu did a decent job against Batista even if it was more of a brawl than a wrestling match. Batista has the mic and he addresses Orton and he says Randy should be worried about what is going to happen to him at Survivor Series and we go to commercial break.

Tomorrow night you should be following Mr. Marshall’s ECW On Sci-Fi Report

When we return, Steph introduces WWE Hall of Famer Chief Jay Strongbow and Michael and The King continue to read off matches for Survivor Series. Orton and Rhodes are backstage with Randy’s mouth running as usual. Todd Grisham introduces a video of Evan Bourne who has been out with an injury and Evan comes out on crutches. And while he is talking, Mike Knox appears to stare him down. Knox walks away, Rey Mysterio and Michaels are backstage, getting ready to head to the ring,. They run into Dolph who is back from his little suspension for a violation of the wellness policy and we go to commercial break.

Tag Team Match: John Morrison and The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio and “Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels

The audience is Mysterio/Michaels friendly and in loud sort of way. Morrison and Michaels start off the match, they lock up and do a little around the ring before Rey gets the tag. Mysterio sends John into the ropes but as he goes for the 619, Miz grabs his leg and trips him, HBK hits the ring and sends Miz to the floor and dives over to take him down again as Mysterio goes out the other side to take out Morrison and we go to commercial break.

Back to the action, Miz and Shawn are in the ring, Miz delivers a body drop but misses a leg drop and Rey gets the tag. Mysterio is delivering a lot of hurricanranas in this match but he gets sent into the ring post off the apron and now Mysterio is on the floor at the mercy of Morrison. John gets the tag, delivers fists to the head, tags in Miz, and Miz works on Rey’s ribs but Mysterio kicks out, Miz tags in Morrison who slings Mysterio into the corner, covers and gets two. Cole reminds us that Raw is being broadcast from Atlanta, GA, as Rey is still getting pounded in the ring. John tags in Miz who delivers a boot to the abdomen, hits a leg drop, covers and gets two. Miz tags in Morrison, Morrison springboards off the ropes and gets caught with a dropkick in midair, nice dropkick by Mysterio. Rey tags in HBK as John tags in Miz and Michaels comes in fired up. He delivers a body drop and comes off the top with an elbow, pumps up the audience and gets set for Sweet Chin Music, hits it, goes for the figure four but Miz counters. HBK goes for the cover, Rey nails Miz with the 619, Michaels hits the super kick, Morrison nails Shawn with a super kick and makes sure Miz has Michaels covered and the ref counts to three.

Winners: John Morrison and The Miz

A nice action filled match and so far the best of the evening even if I thought the ending was a little lame. Michael introduces the video of John Cena. Jericho and Steph are backstage and Jericho is not happy that Cena is getting a title match and then we go to commercial break.

Catch up on Thursday’s action again courtesy of Mr. Marshall with Total Nonstop Weekly

Todd introduces Punk and we see the attack on Punk by Orton that cost Punk a title match. Punk doesn’t do a bad promo but that lip piercing worries me. JBL is backstage lacing up his boots when Kane appears. They are going to be tag team partners tonight and Kane wants John to understand that he does not take orders from anyone.

Tag Team Match: Shad and JTG of Cryme Tyme vs and we go to commercial break.

John Bradshaw Layfield and Kane

There’s a hip hop star in the audience but I still don’t know how to spell his name. The bell rings and it’s JTG and JBL with JTG taking Layfield into the wrong corner and tagging in Shad. Shad delivers a few blows and tags in JTG, JTG goes for the cover but John kicks out. Kane gets the tag and he works on both members of Cryme Tyme, comes off the top with a big clothesline, and JBL tags himself into the match to deliver the clothesline from hell and go for the cover, getting three.

Winners: JBL and Kane with a clothesline from hell

I’m not sure what this match was all about but I wouldn’t want watch Raw just to see this. Kofi Kingston is backstage with Bourne and Mike Knox appears, taking them both out before using the crutch to nail Evan’s bad ankle. It appears we won’t be seeing Bourne back in action soon and we go to commercial break.

Friday night action is here with Pulse Wrestling’s Real-Time Smackdown Report

Cole introduces a replay of what happened to Bourne before commercial break.

William Regal vs. Matt Hardy representing ECW, and ECW Champion

William Regal, 2008 King of the Ring and Intercontinental Champion. is introduced by Lillian Garcia. Regal is upset that the rap star got a better reception than he got. The ref signals for the bell and Regal applies an wrist lock, Hardy delivers a roll up, kick out. Hardy delivers a backslide, William again kicks out and the match moves out to the floor. Regal tries to enter the ring but Matt pulls him back out and the ref counts them out.

Winner: Nobody, double count out, double disqualification

and we have four or five refs out to break up the fight that continues on the floor and we go to commercial break.

I neglected to mention I saw no purpose for the match between Regal and Hardy.

Cole introduces a video of WWE’s tour of Europe. Chris Jericho, WWE Heavyweight Champion, is getting his equal time by coming to the ring to address the audience. Hey, Jericho is complaining about all of those Cena videos, too, so we get a history lesson about Chris’s time in WWE and his Championship runs. He says his piece and we have 11 minutes left to the show and we go to commercial break.

30 Man Lumberjack Match: Randy Orton vs. CM Punk, one half of the WWE World Tag Team Champions

Unless we run over, there is four minutes left for the Main Event. The bell rings and the two lock up with the lock up moving around the ropes and back into the center of the ring before Orton backs up. Punk applies a headlock and drops Orton with a drop toehold. Randy sends CM to the outside but no one gets his hands on Punk. Punk delivers a kick to the face that sends Orton to the outside and he gets rolled back in. Punk tries a backslide but Orton kicks out. Orton gets sent to the outside again and he gets pounded on by everyone on that side of the ring, including Batista. Punk delivers a charging spear into the corner but Mark Henry pulls Punk out to the floor. The good guys come to the rescue and Henry tosses Punk back into the ring. Randy stomps on CM’s hand and then works his way around, stomping as he goes. Punk comes up with a fist to the head but when he comes off the ropes, he gets caught by a dropkick. Orton goes for a cover and gets two. Randy applies a headlock CM is back to his feet and Orton charges into a boot, but Randy delivers a power slam and goes for the cover getting another two. Orton goes back to the headlock. The workers outside the ring are working as cheerleaders and CM is back to his feet, delivering a spinning neck breaker but he can’t cover and the ref starts a count. Randy is back to his feet and he goes for fists but Punk comes back with blows and kicks with a kick to the back of the head that drops Orton, Punk covers and gets two. Punk delivers a high kick in the corner, a bulldog and covers getting two. Batista distracts Orton, Punk tries for the GTS, Randy counters with a neckbreaker. Orton goes for the RKO but gets a kick that sends him to the floor. Punk comes off the top and takes down Randy and everyone around him. Punk is back in the ring, Regal causes a distraction, Randy gets the RKO and the three.

Winner: Randy Orton with an RKO

I am always happy when Punk is in the ring but this match was too short, too scattered and not main event material. After the match, Orton goes for the kick but Batista catches him with a spear and it’s a free for all in the ring as the entire 30 men begin a battle.
