Gossip Girl – Episode 2-11 Review

This week’s Gossip Girl Thanksgiving installment was just like an awful family dinner. It had its drama, it had its downfalls and sometimes I just felt like screaming.

Nate is back, which is nice. But with Nate, we also get his dad and the FBI. Nate was surprisingly emotional and convincing as he was forced to give his dad an ultimatum: turn himself in or lose his relationship with his son. Luckily, Nate’s father chose the former. It was nice to see Chuck and Vanessa come to Nate’s aid after each of their fallouts with him.  However, Nate leads Vanessa to believe he is still interested in her. Okay, maybe he is, but what about Jenny? Vanessa finds the letter from Nate to Jenny and actually opens it! Are you serious?!? He needs to make up his mind already. (Note to Nate: Pick Serena!)

Blair plays it fairly low-key this episode as she prepares for the perfect Thanksgiving. That is until she realizes Cyrus has different traditions and that he and her mom are engaged. Everything is resolved when she comes home for dinner and finds her father there. We also get to see a very humane Blair give Jenny advice about Rufus. Good Blair episode if you ask me…except for the lack of Blair/Chuck scenes. Oh well, I can deal.

Jenny is still not talking to Rufus and is secretly crashing with Eric. When Lily finds Jenny’s stuff and the emancipation papers, she decides to help get Jenny home to her family. Hopefully that Agnes chick is gone for good.

Serena and Aaron are unbearable to watch. Besides her hideous outfit, Serena is basically competing for Aaron’s affections by keeping all her secrets. An Upper East Side socialite competing for an artsy and conceited (an unattractive) jerk? Yeah ok. When Dan runs into Aaron, he unknowingly lets a few things slip about Serena’s past. Aaron doesn’t believe Dan and Serena plays it cool. But after finding a file on her and the rest of her family in Bart’s safe, she decides not to hide her past. She gives Aaron the file. How predictable. The schmuck doesn’t even open it.

I gotta say that the usually boring and cringeworthy scenes between Dan and Serena were actually cute this week. They were civil and it was nice to see. They are one of those couples who are better off apart. They have more chemistry that way. Either way, I give Serena and Aaron three episodes at most. It won’t last, thankfully.

Tune in next week to find out what Nate wrote to Jenny and how it will all go down!
