Disc Announcements, News

James Cox has signed on to direct The Summoner, a psychological horror movie from Dark Castle and Warner Bros.

Written by Matthew Sand, the story centers on a young man experimenting with the dark arts who summons a supernatural being to our world. When his control begins to slip and the situation turns deadly, he must stop the onslaught of evil before it’s too late.

Casting is under way for a January shoot in Portland, Ore.

Joel Silver and David Gambino are producing; Susan Downey, Steve Richards, Lawrence Mattis and David Alpert are executive producing.

Summoner is the sixth film to go under Dark Castle’s agreement with CIT and JPMorgan. Warners is distributing worldwide except for France, which Studio Canal will handle.

CAA-repped Cox is best known for helming 2003’s Wonderland, starring Val Kilmer and Kate Bosworth.
