Miss me?

Follow me on Twitter at pulsepaul!  My left hand is better enough that I’m willing to go back to writing.  Thanks to Norine for covering me Monday Night on a completely unrelated matter.  ECW might not see the light of day this week and you’ll be treated to a double dose of Hulk Hogan’s CCW this weekend with special guests RVD and Goldberg.  Let this be a lesson to myself and to others that use a pair of scissors….miss the object you’re attempting to cut and you risk potentially serious injury.  Luckily, I escaped with a deep gash that is healing nicely…but it could have been a lot worse.

CROSS THE LINE!

Let’s see what we can find this week in regards to news, rumors, and videos.

Kurt Angle DVD Listing

TNA is releasing Kurt Angle’s first ever DVD next Tuesday in select stores nationwide and at their website.  PWInsider has provided the complete match listing.

Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe – Genesis 2006
Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe – Turning Point 2006
Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe – 30 Minute Iron Man Match- Final Resolution 2007
Kurt Angle vs. AJ Styles vs. Christian Cage vs. Chris Harris vs. Samoa Joe – TNA Title King of the Mountain – Slammiversary 2007
Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe – Winner Take All Match- Hard Justice 2007
Kurt Angle vs. Jay Lethal – X-Division Title Match- No Surrender 2007
Kurt Angle vs. Sting – TNA Title Match…Bound For Glory 2007
Kurt Angle vs. Sting – TNA Title Match…Impact 10/28/07
Kurt Angle vs. Yuji Nagata – IWGP Title Match- Global Impact
Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe -TNA Title Match- Lockdown 2008

The DVD looks to be a must buy if you love the selection provided, which includes six matches that include Samoa Joe and two against Sting.  Too bad the match between him and Jeff Jarrett occurred too late to include on this DVD, but it is a decent match listing and that’s all you can ask for.  Had Kurt Angle remained in the WWE, we’d most likely have one or two volumes of Angle’s Greatest Matches, but that is neither here nor there

TNA Takes the UK by Surprise

TNA Wrestling has recently hired U.K. Gladiator star, Nick Aldis.  He joins Doug Williams as TNA’s newest UK talent and will be debuting with the company shortly.  TNA hopes to expand more into the UK next year, hyping their return visit this upcoming January.  Not only that, but TNA plans on unveiling a TNA/UK website and is already gunning to be a huge impact on Virgin Media website.  There’s added Sarah Palin coverage, but I already beat that horse dead last week, so check it out if you want to.

TNA Raises $98,000 for the KVB Sack Foundation

In charity news, TNA, in conjunction with the Tennessee Titans, held a fundraiser to benefit the KVB Sack Foundation.  TNA stars and the Titans were on hand and there were matches to celebrate the day.  The main event saw Abyss defeating Kurt Angle.  For other match results and highlights, go here.

TNA One Liners

It is still unconfirmed whether Christian Cage will go back to the WWE.

Frank Trigg is coming back soon.

Pink slips may be flying for some of the undercard talent in TNA.

WWE’s Future Endeavored Becomes Targets for TNA

This week, I’m going to list a few stars recently released from the WWE and see what they could do in TNA if they were hired. I will continue to do this if WWE regularly releases talent as they have in the past few weeks.

Armando Alejandro Estrada – He was a good comedy character during his ECW days and a decent manager for Umaga.  Wrestling as a whole right now isn’t too high on managers, but his in-ring work in OVW was amazing.  If TNA was putting more time in the X-Division, Armando would be an excellent fit since he has that no limits attitude, but with TNA’s current New School v. Old School storyline, Armando would be lost in the shuffle.  On a minor note, he’d be a good mouthpiece for LAX, with Hector Guerrero forced back into the Spanish announcer’s table.

Lance Cade – He was released a while ago, despite beating Shawn Michaels in a decent match before his departure.  He wouldn’t be an instant main eventer since he has no marketability, but TNA can change that rather quickly.  I almost see Cade being offered a return to the WWE for less money before TNA even decides to take him on.  If TNA was more focused on tag teams, they should hire both him and Trevor Murdoch since they are entertaining as a team.

Kenny Dykstra – The “star” of the Spirit Squad, Ken Doane, is considered Eric’s illegitimate son for all purposes noted.  He’s young, has a lot of talent, and can certainly do wonders in the ring.  The only reason he was released from the WWE is because creative had nothing for him at this time.  It makes me wonder why WWE has a creative team if they can’t get creative enough to find something for some of these stars, but that’s another column for another time.  He can go and he is still a student of the game.  This is one person I’d like to see in TNA, provided if they let him be himself.

Ratings News

TNA iMPACT scored a 1.1 last week, which is very little change from the prior week.  TNA continues to prove that they can keep their audience, while WWE likes to turn them away, as noted with RAW’s 7% decline in ratings.  TNA really needs to get out of the Thursday night time slot because most of the most-watched shows are on that night.  That would leave Wednesday night as the only night TNA could run without risking going against the WWE, but if they decide to test running against the WWE, Tuesday nights would be the best bet.  That won’t happen for a long time, however.

Last Week’s iMPACT Results

Awesome Kong & Rhaka Khan d. Taylor Wilde & Roxxi
Eric Young d. Sheik Abdul Bashir to become the new X Division Champion
Scott Steiner d. Rhino
Sting d. Jay Lethal to retain the TNA Heavyweight Championship
Beer Money d. AJ Styles & Samoa Joe to retain the TNA Tag Team Titles
Christian gets served, Main Event Mafia style.

iMPACT Preview for 11.20.2008

Last week, the Main Event Mafia destroyed Christian Cage and left him in the middle of the ring.  Tonight, the Main Event Mafia promises a “proper burial” for Christian Cage.  Also, there is controversy surrounding the X Division Championship match between Eric Young and Sheik Abdul Bashir last week when Referee Shane Sewell got involved and cost the former champion the match.  What will be the official decision and what punishment will Shane Sewell face?  With Final Resolution looming, what additional matches will be added to the card?  Watch iMPACT tonight on Spike TV!

Pulsating Action

K Sawyer Paul takes 20 minutes to discuss TNA Turning Point and the iMPACT that followed afterwards in this week’s OMFGTNA!
Phil Clark discusses the reality of the feud between the Main Event Mafia and TNA’s “Young Lion Army”.  It’s a great read.
Mark Allen covers the entertainment side of things, while I stick to the wrestling side of things.
Brad Curran has great friends and he will do many things to help his friends out in a time of need.  Covering TNA iMPACT is one of those things.
Norine gets RAW this week and reminds me that I owe her for all eternity.  Usually when I take a RAW off, the show is great…but this week, it was kind of meh.
From Inside Fights, Brian Oswald covers the fallout from UFC: 91.

Until Next Time

Like I said at the top of the report, I’ll be in CCW-Mania mode this weekend catching up with a double CCW TV Report Extravaganza!  WWE Survivor Series is this weekend, and we’ll have coverage right here on Pulse Wrestling.  I’ll chime in Monday with the Survivor Series fallout and next week will be the Total Nonstop Report before Thanksgiving.  May the rest of your week be as eventful as mine will be.  Take care.
