Pulse Wrestling’s Real-Time Smackdown Report 11/21/2008

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

It’s Friday night and Pulse Wrestling presents the Smackdown Real-Time Report! There is nothing like beginning your weekend with our Live Report as we move closer to Survivor Series this Sunday…

THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING

The show opens with a video of the extreme havoc Jeff Hardy has been causing on Smackdown in order to get another shot at the WWE Championship and his match against Undertaker last week. In case you missed it, after interference from The Big Show, Hardy won the match!

Smackdown is aired on MyNetworkTV with ringside announcers Jim Ross and Tazz.

Tag Team Match: R-Truth and ECW Champion Matt Hardy vs. US Champion “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin and “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry with Tony Atlas

Truth does his usual entrance through the live audience singing his theme song but Hardy gets the loudest pop from the audience. The bell rings and Truth faces off with Shelton with Shelton coming out punching. Truth comes back with some hard rights of his own and sends Benjamin to the mat before tagging in Matt who goes for the cover and gets one. Hardy applies a wristlock and tags in Truth. JR and Tazz spend some time pushing Truth’s abilities as Benjamin delivers a shot that sends Truth to the canvas. Truth comes off the ropes, ducks under a clothesline, delivers a dropkick and goes for the cover getting two. Matt gets the tag and with his partner, send Shelton over the top rope and we go to commercial break!

Back to the action, Hardy and Benjamin are in the ring with Atlas up on the ring apron to distract the referee and allow Henry to nail Hardy. Shelton goes for the cover, gets two, and tags in Mark who comes in with some heavy clubbing blows. Henry covers and gets two, stands on Matt’s chest and tags in Benjamin who delivers a hard right fist to the head and applies a headlock while R-Truth is wanting a tag. Shelton delivers a series of fists, goes for the cover but Hardy gets the shoulder up. Benjamin tags in Mark who delivers a body slam, covers and gets two. Hardy comes off the ropes and gets caught in a bear hug. Matt makes it to Truth for the tag as Mark tags in Benjamin. R-Truth delivers a kick to the face, goes for the cover but Mark is in to break it up. Shelton catches Shelton in a Samoan drop, Hardy comes through the ring to take out Henry, Atlas takes a hit, Truth hits the corkscrew elbow, the ax kick, covers and gets the three and the win.

Winners: R-Truth and Matt Hardy.

I considered this too much of a sell on Truth which has been happening since he made his debut. Hardy and Benjamin are better in the ring and should be given the kudos they deserve.

JR introduces yet another video of the returning John Cena who will be at Survivor Series this Sunday in a title match and we go to commercial break.

Your Monday night wrestling fix normally comes to you courtesy of Mr. Marshall but last week yours truly filled in with Pulse Wrestling’s Real-Time WWE Raw Report

Eve Torres is in the locker room with “The Game” Triple H and asks about his match with Jeff Hardy. Trips is a little concerned about whether or not “those are real” looking at Torres about to come out of her top…he is referring to the pearl necklace she is wearing, of course. HHH tells her that he is the best but Hardy and Vladimir Kozlov only thing they are the best. Vlad shows up to remind Trips that his days as Champion are numbered. Maria is backstage with Festus but Miz and Morrison show up to wish Festus good luck in his match against them last night and we go to commercial break.

Yo! to Indy wrestler Kevyn Kross who is a big fan of Jeff Hardy and likes the new, improved and insane version. Kevyn’s been in a bad mood all day…I hope Jeff Hardy pulls out all the stops to improve his mood!

WWE Smack of the Week: Monday night’s Raw Match of HBK and Mysterio vs. Miz and Morrison. Miz and Morrison won with a little cheating.

Tag Team Match: John Morrison and Miz vs. Jesse and Festus

The ref calls for the bell and Festus sends Miz out of the ring, facing Morrison. Festus delivers a beat down on John and tags in Jesse who covers and gets the two. Morrison springboards off the ropes with a kick that takes Jesse down and then tags in Miz who applies a chin lock. Jesse makes it out of the hold and tags in Festus who goes to work on Miz with a nice squash and then a shoulder block, a blow that sends Morrison to the floor, but Morrison rings the bell and Festus goes back to his quiet self. Miz delivers a knee, covers and gets the three.

Miz and Morrison

I know there are Miz and Morrison fans that will argue with me, but this match was a waste of time. Why WWE doesn’t let Jesse actually work a match is just beyond me and we go to commercial break.

Jeff Hardy vs. “The Game” Triple H

Jeff has lost his extreme makeup but still has heavy around the eyes makeup. If Hardy takes home a win, the Championship match at Survivor Series will be a triple threat between Trips, Kozlov and Jeff. Hardy puts out his hand to shake but when HHH puts out his hand, he gets nailed with a boot in the gut. Jeff does some heavy pounding on The Game and then bails off the apron to drop him on the floor. Back in the ring, Hardy keeps up the pace, goes for the cover and gets two. Jeff isn’t missing around but he misses a double stomp and hits the canvas. HHH picks him up, sets up for the pedigree but Jeff counters and catapults Trips into the corner, leg sweep and goes to the rope, but changes his mind and comes back down. Hardy gets send under the bottom rope and out to the guardrail and we go to commercial break in the middle of the match. Again.

Back to the match, Trips has Jeff down on the mat and we see that during the commercial break, Hardy took a beating at the hands of his opponent. HHH goes for the cover and gets two, delivers a back breaker, goes for the cover and gets two. Hardy comes up fighting but catches a clothesline as he comes off the ropes, The Game covers and gets two. Trips has Hardy in an abdominal stretch, Hardy breaks free, comes off the ropes and gets caught in the same hold. Jeff comes out swinging but The Game delivers a face buster, covers and gets two, Hardy delivers a jawbreaker and both men are down. Jeff comes off the ropes but Trips delivers a spine buster and then goes for the pedigree but Hardy sends HHH over his back and to the mat. Jeff catches him with Whisper in the Wind but can’t cover. Hardy is back up, delivers a second Whisper in the Wind, covers and gets two. Jeff comes at HHH with fists, a neck breaker, covers and a two, into the corner with a double stomp, cover and again two. Hardy throws The Game over the top rope and goes after him, slamming HHH”s head into the announcer’s table, Jeff over the top rope with a leg drop, a cover and two. Jeff is back to his feet begging for the audience to back him up, misses Twist of Fate, delivers a slam to the mat, goes to the top, but misses the Swanton bomb when Trips rolls out of the way. The audience starts booing as The Moscow Mauler appears. Trips delivers a blow to Vlad, Hardy goes after Trips, goes over the top rope and takes down Kozlov, Jeff goes for a roll up and gets the three and the win. Hello Triple Threat Match at Survivor Series!

Winner: Jeff Hardy with a roll up.

The match was slower and not nearly as good as Jeff’s match against Undertaker last week, but Hardy did a great job working even in slow mode. After the match, Jeff and HHH shake hands but The Moscow Mauler enters the ring to work over both of them and leaves them down in the ring and we go to commercial break.

“The” Brian Kendrick and Ezekiel Jackson are in the back with Brian picking on one of the backstage employees.

Tag Team Match: WWE Tag Team Champions Primo and Carlito vs. “The” Brian Kendrick and Ezekiel Jackson

Hurrapop appears in a corner of the screen before the match. The bell rings and Primo and Kendrick start the action with Primo working on Kendrick but then stopping to mouth off to Jackson and paying for it. Primo gets back to the corner and tags in Carlito who beings a beat down of Brian but he tags in Zeke who comes out with some heavy hits to Carlito. Carlito fights back but gets power slammed to the mat, Jackson tags in TBK but Kendrick misses a kick and Primo gets the tag. I had to stop typing to watch Primo. The kid is good and he’s showing it as he delivers a suplex, and goes for the cover but Jackson is in to break it up. Zeke gets the tag and slams Primo to the mat, covers and gets the three.

Winners: Ezekiel Jackson and “The” Brian Kendrick.

Primo looks better every time I see him in the ring and he works well with Carlito. I have always liked Kendrick and approve of his push. I haven’t decided what to think about Jackson yet. The match was too short, but it was good while it lasted and we go to commercial break.

Made your plans for November 28? Don’t just sit there, get on the ‘net and get your tickets for the 3XWrestling Toys For Tots Show in Des Moines, Iowa! Great line up, great entertainment in the heart of America and your chance to donate a new toy for a child in need!

We see a video of Kizarny at a carnival sideshow. We then see a video of the feud between The Big Show and The Undertaker. These two will face each other in a Casket Match at Survivor Series in a casket match. JR and Tazz rundown some of the matches for Survivor Series this Sunday. Jeff is backstage telling us that he is going to win the Championship match this Sunday. Hardy may have lost the extreme makeup, but crazy seems to have stayed with him and we go to commercial break.

Montel Vontavious Porter vs. James Mason from England

MVP is all smiles as he is facing an unknown in the ring unfortunately, this Mason isn’t a small guy and although it starts out with a little wrestling, Porter comes back with fists until, you guessed it, “The Punjabi Playboy” The Great Khali with Ranjin Singh appear, causing a distraction that allows James to do roll up and get the three count and the win.

James Mason with a roll up.

I was hoping to see a little more of James Mason since I had never seen him before, but I should have known better. What, no Kiss Cam? After the match, MVP gets whomped by Khali and Hurrapop appears to tell him he his running out of things to say and we go to commercial break.

Between Internet connection problems and cable television issues (thank you so much Time Warner on all counts), I may actually be able to finish this review before Sunday’s Survivor Series!

Raw Rebound: Last Monday’s CM Punk vs. Randy Orton Lumberjack Match which turned into a free for all after Orton won the match with help from William Regal with a distraction.

Tag Team Match: The Bella Twins Brie and Nikki vs. Victoria and Natalya

Victoria faces off against one of the twins and applies a wristlock but there is a reversal and The Twins tag, do a little teamwork and cover getting two. Victoria tags in Natalya who receives a slap and then gets caught in a sunset flip for a two. The Twins tag again and Victoria delivers a kick to the back, the other twin is in the ring andn the ref has to run her back to her corner. Natalya makes the tag, Victoria delivers a slam, goes for the cover and gets two. The Bellas tag again, Victoria delivers a drop, goes for the cover and the other twin breaks it up, Natalya in the ring, the other twin shoves the injured twin out of the ring, takes her place, gets the cover and gets the win.

The Bella Twins.

I don’t have anything positive to say about this match. It was too short and I don’t like the fact that Natalya and Victoria never actually get a chance in the ring and we go to commercial break.

The Undertaker’s entrance theme begins and there is a casket in the center of the ring. Taker is reading The Big Show his last rites and Show along with Vickie Guerrero in her wheelchair and Chavo Guerrero appear and make their way to the ring. Show wants The Dead Man to know he isn’t afraid of him and that he has the power over Taker now. Taker throws open the lid of the casket, the lights go out, and Taker has Vickie in the ring. Show starts in but can’t quite make himself do it, Chavo is yelling at Show and Taker drops Vickie in the casket and closes the lid. Show sends Chavo into the ring and as he Taker is busy, he drags the suddenly not so crippled Vickie out of the casket. In the ring, The Dead Man delivers the Tombstone pile driver and now Chavo is in the casket with the lid slammed shut.
