Total Nonstop Weekly

Columns, Top Story

Hopefully everyone is having a nice Thanksgiving and is debating on whether to hit the big sales tomorrow morning. If you’re already in line for some of the bargains, you are very brave. But for those who are not insane, sit back and relax as I catch you up on some TNA news to hit this week. That is…if I can find anything.

TNA’s Black Friday Sale

When your only big story consists of a huge Black Friday sale at ShopTNA.com, it’s a slow week on the news front. In related news, you get free shipping for orders over $40 and there are some decent bargains with $5 shirts and DVD’s. The best part about this is that it runs for a few days, so don’t delay. Sorry, Kurt Angle’s new DVD isn’t included in the special, but you’re sure to find that in a store drastically marked down anyways.

TNA One-Liners

Mick Foley has been added to the Rhino v. Kurt Angle match as a special enforcer.

The group dubbed TNA Originals is now referred to the TNA Frontline.

Christian Cage is still in TNA, but his friend Tyson Tomko is back in the WWE.

TNA will bring back “Feast or Fired” this year at Final Resolution.

TNA DVD’s will soon be available to fans in France.

Ratings News

Last week’s TNA saw their ratings stay steady, and I have to concede this week since WWE RAW posted a 13% increase. The bigger question is can RAW keep building or was this a one-time deal? I expect ratings to drop this week due to the holiday, but I’ll be surprised if it drops below a 0.9.

Quickie TNA Thanksgiving Episode Results

It’s the 2nd Annual Turkey Bowl tonight! Who wins $25K and who gets to wear the big Turkey suit? Yes, I’m borrowing Glazer’s format, but Glazer is a good friend.

Match 1: Sonjay Dutt v. Hernandez v. Rhino

It’s a two big man vs. Sonjay Dutt and you can tell how his ends. Rhino and Hernandez do have some time to impress the fans, but Sonjay takes an opening. Rhino is dispatched, but Hernandez takes over. Sonjay takes out Hernandez, but eats the Gore for the win.

Rhino pins Sonjay Dutt; GORE; C

Match 2: Consequences Creed v. Cute Kip v. Alex Shelley

Shelley takes a break, allowing Kip and Creed to do the dirty work. Once Kip is out momentarily, Shelley goes to work. It doesn’t last long as Creed takes both of them out of the ring. Suicide plancha takes out Creed. Shelley hits a running knee off the apron, taking Kip out. Creed owns Shelley, but the Creed-DT is interrupted with Kip coming back in. Kip goes for the Fameasser, but is stopped by Shelley and Shelley picks up the win via a pin.

Alex Shelley pins Consequences Creed; cradle pin w/tights; C

Match 3: Jimmy Rave v. Sheik Adbul Bashir v. Matt Morgan

Bashir and Rave play Rock, Paper, & Scissors to see who goes first, but decides that Morgan is stronger. Both try to attack, but Morgan is still too strong. Morgan is down and they both take advantage of him. Morgan cleans house and introduces Rave and Bashir to each other. Double pin gets two and Bashir turns on Rave. Move of the match: A Double Fall Away Slam by Matt Morgan! Morgan gets too cocky and misses a big boot, which allows Bashir to hit the WMD-DT on Rave for the win.

Sheik Abdul Bashir pins Jimmy Rave; WMD-DT; C+

Match 4: Christy Hemme v. Raisha Saeed (w/Awesome Kong & Rhaka Khan)

Hemme goes for a quick pinning predicament for two. She goes wild and misses a dropkick, which allows Saeed to take control. Saeed throws Hemme out to the dogs and distracts the referee long enough for Kong to brutalize her. Saeed locks on a dangerous surfboard and can only get two. Saeed goes to the top and misses the dropkick! Hemme comes back and she Firecrotches the mat. Powerbomb attempt by Saeed gets reversed to a rollup for a Hemme win!

Christy Hemme pins Raisha Saeed; rollup; D+

Match 5: Turkey Bowl Finals – Alex Shelley v. Sheik Abdul Bashir v. Rhino

Shelley and Bashir double team Rhino from the get go. Hell, might as well dial it up cause Rhino doesn’t take double teaming very well. Bashir gets a Belly-to-Belly and Shelley gets a spinebuster, but they do try to work together. We take our FIRST commercial break during a match tonight with Rhino pairing off with Bashir. Coming back from break, the team of Bashir and Shelley continue to work to perfection. Back inside the ring, Bashir gets a nearfall. The partnership ends with them arguing over who gets the pin. Maybe not. Maybe so. They can’t decide. Now it’s over with Bashir sending Shelley to the corner. Bashir up top, but Shelley hits a top rope atomic drop. They duke it out and Rhino is recharged. GORE from Rhino out of nowhere and Shelley gets pinned!

Rhino pins Alex Shelley; GORE; B
