This is not a test of the emergency broadcast system. Popcorn Junkies has it on good authority that the first trailer for next summer’s blockbuster release X-Men Origins: Wolverine will be attached to prints of Fox’s The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Directed by Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, Rendition), one of Marvel’s most recognizable heroes flies solo from the X-Men for his own comic-book movie. Hugh Jackman reprises his star-making role in a story about Wolverine’s time with Team X, before his skeleton was bonded by the indestructible metal Admantium. But Wolverine isn’t the only superhero to be found. Superheroes and villains that will also play pivotal roles include Sabertooth (Liev Schrieber), Gambit (“Friday Night Lights”‘s Taylor Kitsch), Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Silver Fox (Lynne Collins).
X-Men Origins: Wolverine kicks off the summer blockbuster season of 2009 on May 1st.
