Gossip Girl – Episode 2-12 Review

Top Story

Dare I say that I miss Serena and Dan together? Yes, this week’s episode actually had me wishing the usually boring couple were back together.

Everyone is preparing for the big “Snowflake Ball” and it looks like Serena and Dan are both dateless. That is, until the pretentious and overrated Aaron decides he will take her. Aaron’s bitchy ex-girlfriend Lexie is in town and decides to go after Dan. He and Serena have a few awkward moments as they talk about sex with other people. In a surprisingly cute confession, Dan reveals that his time with Serena was the best he ever had. Now, I usually find Dan a little whiny and Serena a little clingy, but the “will they-won’t they” potential of these two draws me back in!

The ever competitive Chuck and Blair vie to find the perfect date for each other. Each finds a wannabe replica of themselves and the two dates end up hooking up. It looks like we may actually get to see a Blair and Chuck kiss…until Chuck finds Lily with Rufus.

Lily plans on leaving Bart after she finds out he is meeting with an investigator again. Sadly, it is a misunderstanding and Bart’s intentions were to dismiss the background checks. Though, his investigator does find something good on Lily…we just don’t find out yet. And it looks like we won’t find out from Bart as Lily learns he was in an accident!

As for the Jenny/Vanessa/Nate triangle, it looks like Jenny is out of the picture for now. Jenny and Vanessa made amends until Jenny finds out Vanessa stole Nate’s letter. So she gets revenge by making her a very pretty and very see-through dress for the ball. Needless to say, even I felt bad for Vanessa. While I thought the idea of Nate and Jenny was intriguing, I do want to see where the Nate/Vanessa thing goes.

Next week, everything officially crumbles when Chuck finds out Lily’s big secret!
