10 Thoughts On TNA Impact! for 12-4-08

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

And not a single one of them is about the Palin impersonator showing up!

1. For a brief moment at the top of the show, Brother Ray had a very high pitched voice when he was giving his pep talk to Front Line. Ray came off as Front Line’s life coach this week with all of the motivational speeches.

2. It was pretty cool to hear Booker break out his old catchphrase again.

3. Booker vs. Joe was their usual good match, but no one seemed to have told them about the street fight stipulation. For instance, it didn’t make any sense that the Beautiful People had to make their run in behind the ref’s back, unless this was one of those rare “Street Fights with no DQ except if some bimbos run in with hairspray” variations of the gimmick.

4. They showed footage of Christy Hemme training with AJ, which was a nice touch. It also gave us a pretty funny image of AJ having a nice view of Christy while in a headlock.

5. The crowd chanted “You can’t wrestle” at Steiner at the beginning of the match. Yeah! It’s not like he was an All-American at it or anything! Although, to be fair to the Impact Zone crowd, “You used to be an excellent wrestler but are now a pale, broken down shell of your former self, although you are at least in better shape at this point in your career than the guy whose loke you ripped off, Superstar Billy Graham, was at this stage of his”, while more accurate, would be a very unwieldy chant.

6. Kind of surprising that they put Christy over Kong there. I expected the story for that match would be more about whether she could possibly win, not that she could. That AJ assited DDT was pretty cool.

7. During the Feast or Fired video package, Shelley said that if he got the pink slip case, he’d have to start dressing like Mick Foley. So, even when faced with losing a job, he’s still busting on the guy’s fashion sense. That’s dedication.

8. I appreciated the fact that they played up the comedic possibilities of Drunk Abyss before Beer Money jumped him.

9. If I’m not mistaken, Kurt Angle threatened to become a vampire against Rhyno and then enslave the Jarrett Family when he gets done with Double J. I can’t wait for them to do that rematch just so we can see the back of these promos.

10. Holy crap! Rhyno pinned Sting! With a crimson mask, no less! I thought they overpushed him last week. Not that I’m complaining. Still fairly surprising to see anyone pin Sting on free TV.
