Gossip Girl – Episode 2-13 Review

Top Story

I am in complete awe and shock over what went down on this week’s Gossip Girl. While it wasn’t overall the best episode, it did have one of the biggest reveals. And yes, I think it’s even bigger and better than finding out that Serena “killed” someone.

Bart just died in a car accident so I knew it was going to be big. But, they went an another angle and kind of played the death humorously. Aside from Chuck, everyone pretty much couldn’t care less, which I found a little strange. They really didn’t even mention the circumstances surrounding his death.

Chuck was phenomenal in this episode. He was an absolute mess and understandably so. He never got the approval that he so desperately sought from his father. I felt for him. Blair acted very maternal toward him and their scenes were amazing. She finally said “I love you” to Chuck. While that scene seemed a little corny, it was long overdue. I was sad to see Chuck not say it back and shut Blair out. But at the end, Chuck goes to see Blair and she just holds him as he cries in probably the most touching scene of the series.

Serena and Dan were in an awkward limbo the entire episode. Their scenes have a lot more fire when they aren’t together and you could definitely still see the feelings there. Unfortunately, Serena wants her mom to be happy with Rufus and thinks she needs to really give her relationship with Aaron a chance. So Serena basically tells Dan that it’s over as she accepts an invitation from Aaron to spend the holidays in Buenes Aires. I really like the Dan/Serena dynamic when they aren’t together so I’m hoping this will drag out a little more. Although, I must admit Aaron still drives me crazy (not in a good way).

Nate was in the episode for .3 seconds as he helped clean Chuck up for the funeral. Vanessa didn’t even make an appearance and Jenny was just there.

The big focus of this week’s installment was surprisingly the parents’ storylines. Eleanor and Cyrus decided to get married, which was strange yet sweet. And then we have Rufus and Lily. These two are meant to be together, or we are supposed to believe. They undoubtedly have chemistry, but I just don’t know. We all thought that Rufus and Lily were finally going to be together until Lily’s mother lets out a big secret that Chuck found out…

Lily and Rufus have a child.

Yes, that’s right. Rufus meets Lily at Grand Central where they planned to run off together. But instead he asks her a simple question: is it a boy or girl? And that’s all we get! I literally screamed when I heard this because my immediate thought was that either Aaron or Serena was Rufus’ child. But, there is no way Lily would have allowed Serena and Dan to date if they were related. And Aaron…I just don’t think so. So after that initial shock wore off, I felt confused and anxious to find out where this mystery kid is and how will it change the Rufus/Lily story (and the Dan/Serena story for that matter).

I guess we will just have to wait!
