A Class Act by Zuffa

Many lives are touched by the difficult times faced by this county, in so many different ways.  The weight of a war can be trying for everyone involved.  It is when the people rise, and come together that the reason for the fight is recognized and understood.

Children live every day wondering how their parents are doing in a far away land.  Spouses sit alone at dinner tables, patiently awaiting the return of their loved ones.  Entire families live with both the pride and the fear that go along with supporting their relatives in wartime.

Last night, the UFC showed a different side than it usually portrays.  More often than not, the obvious and apparent goal of Dana White, the UFC, and Zuffa is clearly the procurement of profit above all else.  Many times, fight fans have seen less than desirable decisions made for the sole purpose of lining the pockets of the big boys at the UFC.

UFC Fight for the Troops was a breath of fresh air, not only for the fans but for the troops.  Dana, and the Zuffa organization put together a very classy, well planned, thoughtful presentation for these men and women who risk all to make this world a better place.

To take it a step further, the UFC focused primarily on TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) victims, who were injured in combat, and are struggling with the condition today.  The testimonials played in between the fights were touching to say the very least.  Emotions were stirred watching these proud men and women tell their tales of life, and the struggles that accompany it after enduring the trials of war.

Tugging at the heart strings of the viewers, struggling soldiers and families opened the door into their lives and challenges for all to see.  They wanted to shed some light on a very difficult and relatively unknown condition, with the hopes of furthering research and progressing rehabilitation through financial contributions from the viewers.

These brave men and women are fighting a new uphill battle to regain some normalcy in their lives after being touched by this unfortunate condition.  Their positive attitude in the face of such adversity was both inspiring and riveting.  Much appreciation is owed to them for their sacrifices.

The UFC employed the services of many well known entertainers to help their cause, in what can only be described as a mini telethon.  The entire presentation was done so well, it really hit close to home.

In closing, the UFC has shown a side to all that many are not familiar with.  The instances when they show this side may be very few and extremely far between.  One thing is for sure.  When it is shown, it  becomes much more difficult to bad mouth and pass judgement on those who run the organization.  While profit and publicity may be the paramount concerns for Zuffa, Dana White, and the UFC, it was made very apparent last night that somewhere behind all the smoke and mirrors, there is a heart indeed walking hand in hand with a strong conscience.

Good job UFC, you brightened the day of many who have much to worry about, who have placed everything on the line, many who have suffered greatly.  Chalk one up on the good karma side of things.  Hats off to both the UFC and the troops we all support.  This was a home run, with what was little more than an almost faceless fight card, that really pleased and entertained.  The troops surely enjoyed it.  It was a memorable, remarkable effort, and very honorable to say the very least.
