The Dark Knight Shatters Records…Again

Disc Announcements, News

As if box office dominance wasn’t enough, The Dark Knight has obliterated another record for its home video release. On Blu-ray Disc, TDK sold a record 600,000 copies on its first day of release, December 9. That’s about 21% of the number of units sold that day.

By the end of the week, TDK eclipsed 1 million high-def copies – a format milestone.

Prior to Dark Knight, the best Blu-ray performer was Paramount Home Entertainments Iron Man, which moved 260,000 high-def copies on its first day on sale Sept. 30, and 500,000 units in its first week.

This years highest-grossing film, Dark Knight, which generated $530 million in U.S. theatrical ticket sales, moved about 3 million copies in both standard and high-def in the U.S. on its first day of release, according to Warner.
