Results for the first broadcast of 2009…
– Alex Shelley beat Eric Young in a semi-final match of the X Title tournament. Afterwards, Sheik Abdul Bashir taunted referee Shane Sewell. They brawled around the ring but Bashir eventually ran off. Jim Cornette and Earl Hebner tried to calm Sewell down. Cornette told him that he had given him a warning so Sewell was fired. Bashir taunted him but Cornette said that Sewell would have a new job as a wrestler and would face Bashir at Genesis.
– The Main Event Mafia came to the ring. Kurt Angle cut a promo… balance of power… blood… picking the wrong side… usual stuff.
– Awesome Kong beat Madison Lane.
– Matt Morgan beat Robert Roode by stoppage after Roode injured his knee.
– Jay Lethal & Consequences Creed beat Beer Money to win the tag team titles. Lethal was cashing in his Feast or Fired title shot.
– Kurt Angle beat B.G. James by submission. Afterwards, Scott Steiner, Booker T and Kevin Nash came down to gang up on James. Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett made the save. Jarrett spoke about how signing Angle to TNA was never supposed to lead to this. Foley reminds him that it is all worth it.
– Backstage, the Mafia have knocked out Creed, Lethal and Young. They come back out and Angle tells Jarrett he is going to meet his maker. They surround Jarrett at ringside but Samoa Joe comes in through the crowd, arm in a sling, wielding a weapon and attacks Angle with it.
