ROH News on Hammerstein

News

Ring of Honor is looking forward to one of the biggest weekends in company history. They return to the New Alhambra Arena (former ECW Arena) on Friday night in Philadelphia, and anticipate their largest crowd ever this Saturday night at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. Both shows feature five of the most celebrated Japanese professional wrestlers in the sport today. This includes the legendary Kensuke Sasaki, former ROH & GHC World Heavyweight Champion Takeshi Morishima, former Pro Wrestling NOAH Triple Crown Holder Naomichi Marufuji, Katsuhiko Nakajima, & Go Shiozaki. Advance tickets can be purchased online at http://www.rohwrestling.com/shoponline.asp?1=1&catid=163&keyword=&alKeyword=&iCurrentPage=2.

For the first time ever, Austin Aries will lock horns with Naomichi Marufuji. These two spectacular athletes have never met in the ring before, and this first time encounter promises to be an instant classic. Go Shiozaki, fresh off the loss of the FIP Heavyweight Title to Tyler Black, gets not only a chance to redeem himself to the world and his agent Larry Sweeney, but possibly the biggest opportunity of his career. A win over Morishima would cement his already rising star and established him as an international force. A third never-before-seen dream match will occur when the legendary powerhouse Kensuke Sasaki teams with protégé Katsuhiko Nakajima, a standout on the ROH shows in Tokyo in September, to take on the brutal combination of Roderick Strong and Brent Albright. Will these American two hard-hitters be able to overcome a team that combines a tremendously agile young star and a legend who has been leaving a trail of bodies in his wake for two decades? In Philly we will find out.

Kensuke Saske and Nakajima, fresh from their match in Philly with Roderick Strong and Brent Albright, will face the most prolific tag team in ROH history when they tangle with the Briscoe Brothers in New York. ROH World Champion Nigel McGuiness is in for a long night when he takes on the incredible Naomichi Marufuji, and the title will be on the line. The Ring of Honor World Championship has been held by one Japanese wrestler in the past, and may soon be worn by another. These matches highlight a card that includes Austin Aries vs. Tyler Black, a 4-corner survival match, a NYC Street Fight 6-man tag, and much more.

Bryan Danielson and Takeshi Morishima are no strangers to one another. Their meeting this Saturday at the Hammerstein Ballroom for Final Battle has been brewing for a long time; the last two stateside singles contests between these men ended in disqualifications, and the most recent of these was a full year ago. In August of 2007 in New York, Bryan sustained an eye injury that required surgery and could have resulted in permanent damage. In November and December of last year, they each traded DQ victories in their attempts to maim one another. It’s been a year since they last met, each man has been anxiously awaiting this opportunity, so given these circumstances, ROH officials made this a Fight Without Honor.. There’s no telling what lengths these two will go to, as not only are they among the best in the sport today, but there is also an intense personal aspect to this match.

The BIG TEN SALE has been extended until Friday morning. For complete details click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=860.
