The Nuns: New York Vampires – DVD Review

DVD Reviews, Reviews

Im not kidding when I say that I actually felt queasy when I opened the mail and saw I had to review this. Vietnam-like flashbacks went through my mind from Satanic Sluts II: The Black Masses. Thankfully The Nuns was not quite as bad as that. It certainly wasnt good, and it took a good hour after it was over for that queasy feeling to finally go away.

The production is broken down into nine separate videos, all of which must be selected individually. Most of the videos are in the cabaret style of the Satanic Sluts, but there are three selections in particular that break from that format and distinguish themselves as being incredibly boring and just downright strange: New York Vampires Parts I & II, and A Note from Jennifer.

I really have no idea what they were trying for in New York Vampires I & II. Its shot like they were using Jennifers dads home video camera, and basically the plot is them hanging around some room acting bitchy and stupid, in that order. And A Note from Jennifer is a five-minute long screen of rolling text describing who the Nuns are and what they set out to do, but honestly I couldnt read it because the print was so small that it gave me a headache.

The only good thing I can say about this DVD is that its shorter than Satanic Sluts II, but all that really means is that its put off my ulcer just a little bit longer.

The videos are produced in Fullscreen aspect ratio with Mono sound, and the quality of both are sub-par and on the level of what I could do with a cheap Wal-Mart video camera.

History – A bunch of crappy pictures set to crappy pseudo death metal.

What can I say about this production that I havent said about any other Redemption flick Ive reviewed? Its disgusting and misogynistic. The linking of sex, death, and pain is disturbing, and to my mind, harmful. Not recommended.
