Mike Johnson at PWI is reporting that Dr. Phil Astin III, Chris and Nancy’s Benoit’s personal physician, will go on trial on Monday, March 16, 2009 in Newnan, Georgia.
He faces 175 federal counts of illegal prescription abuse. Two of the patients involved are believed to have been working for WWE at the time. Astin has also been linked to the death of Mike Durham (Johnny Grunge), as he was linked to 32 of the 36 prescriptions written to him in the year before his death. It’s alleged that he prescribed Durham 120 Somas the day before his death in February 2006.
