Fans in General

In todays world of high priced free agents and idiots making signs just to be on TV, people don’t take notice of the true fans.

You know, that fan that shows up for all the games and just enjoys being there. The one that just wears the colors. The one that cheers, but is never disrespectful. The one that you see all the time but never really notice.

Well, St. Louis lost their best one over the weekend.

This fan only missed 3 Rams home games since they moved to St. Louis (1 because of health, 1 because of a wedding, and 1 because of a family reunion). This fan was a companion to all that sat by him – they noticed when he missed the games and questioned the new person sitting in his seat.

This fan took the bus to as many Cardinals games as he could. This fan didn’t care what happened at the game as long as the Cardinals won.

This fan would tell me about watching Lou Brock stealing his 913th base. This fan would tell me about meeting Lou and getting him to sign the score card from the game.

This fan also had a ticket to the last World Series game and didn’t get to go because someone wanted his wallet. This fan also said that if he ever met his attacker, he’d forgive him because that is what Jesus would do.

This fan should be an example to all.

I’ll miss you Uncle Tom.
