A pair of Dancing with the Stars professionals have become real-life partners.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff got engaged on New Year’s Eve, People reports. The two professional dancers have been dating since the summer.
The couple was in Las Vegas to celebrate the new year when he popped the question. A source assures the magazine that “they are really cute together.”
Smirnoff, 30, and Chmerkovskiy, who turns 29 this month, are both natives of Ukraine. She was previously involved with her former Dancing partner Mario Lopez, but they split up last spring.
Chmerkovskiy partnered with Olympian Misty May-Treanor on Dancing last fall, while Smirnoff danced with chef Rocco DiSpirito. The show’s next edition premieres on ABC in March.
