TNT Adds Two More Shows To Its Lineup!

TNT has added two more shows to its roster of original series, which is becoming one of the most extensive lineups on cable.

The network announced Thursday (Jan. 8) that it’s picked up the medical drama Time Heals and a show about undercover cops called The Line for 10 episodes each. Both shows will premiere later this year.

A third pilot, the Ray Romano dramedy Men of a Certain Age, didn’t make the cut in this round.

The two new shows join The Closer, Leverage, Saving Grace, Raising the Bar and the soon-to-debut Trust Me on TNT, which wants to have three nights of all original programming on the air by next year.

“Our new series are consistent with our belief that audiences are drawn to relatable, complex characters showcased in exciting, emotional settings and storylines,” TNT programming chief Michael Wright says. “These new series also reflect our belief that great television comes from great talent. The talent at work on these shows is among the best in the business at delivering quality entertainment.”

The Line stars Dylan McDermott (The Practice, Big Shots) as the leader of an LAPD undercover unit whose officers are in so deep that the line between good and bad gets blurry. Omari Hardwick (Miracle at St. Anna), Logan Marhall-Green (Traveler, The O.C.) and Nicki Aycox (Cold Case, Over There) play the officers on McDermott’s team.

Doug Jung (Big Love) wrote the pilot and is executive producing with the CSI team of Jerry Bruckheimer, pilot director Danny Cannon and Jonathan Littman.

Jada Pinkett Smith (Reign Over Me, The Women) plays the director of nursing at a Charlotte, N.C., hospital in Time Heals, which focuses on her struggles to care for patients at work and as a recently widowed mother at home. It’s her first regular role on TV since A Different World in the early ’90s.

Pinkett Smith is also an exec producer of the show, along with creator John Masius (Providence, St. Elsewhere) and Jamie Tarses. The cast also includes Laura Kenley, David Julian Hirsh (Naked Josh), Christina Moore (90210) and Suleka Mathew (Men in Trees).
