King of Trios Qualifiers Announced
It has been confirmed that on the last weekend of March, sixteen teams will compete throughout three days to become the 2009 King of Trios. Two trios have been confirmed so far, along with three trios to be announced after the qualification matches take place.

– The Osirian Portal (Amasis, Ophidian and Escorpio Egipcio)
– Mike Quackenbush, ??? and ???
– Super Smash Brothers and Create-a-Wrestler or The Fabulous Three To be decided at Revelation X (1.25.2009):
– The Colony or Team FIST To be decided at If The Airplane Is Snowed In, Put Your Bloody Skis On And Get Going! (2.20.2009):
– Brodie Lee, Eddie Kingston and Grizzly Redwood or Neo Solar Temple and Sami Callihan To be decided at Motive, Means, Opportunity (2.21.2009):

LuFisto Debuts and Del Rey Returns
All in one night, and all in one match! LuFisto’s opponent in her debut match is none other than Sara Del Rey, Chikara’s Woman Wrecking Machine. Del Rey’s last female competitor in Chikara was Kylie Pierce (whom she defeated in under five minutes) in January 2008. Del Rey may have dominated Pierce, but let me remind you, Pierce is no LuFisto. This match may top Del Rey’s 2 out of 3 Falls Match against Haze at Maximum Overdraft.

Three Tag Team Matches Confirmed for Revelation-X
Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw (1) are set to go up against Ultramantis Black and Crossbones (0) of the Neo Solar Temple. Quack and Jigsaw are going into this match with some momentum after pulling a win over Colin Delaney and STIGMA during the season finale. Speaking of Delaney and STIGMA (0), they will also be battling for a point against KC “Cloudy” Day and Cheech Hernandez (1). In the third match, Brodie Lee invited Grizzly Redwood (0) to be on his team as he challenged Hallowicked and Frightmare (0). Hallowicked and Frightmare apparently accepted as the match was announced late last week.

The Colony Cashes In
Soldier and Fire Ant of The Colony have cashed in their seven points and will challenge The Osirian Portal for their Campeonatos de Parejas at Revelation X. Chikarason gave The Colony the privilege of choosing the stipulations for the match considering they have an earth-shattering seven points. On Wednesday, Worker Ant of The Colony confirmed the match will be one-fall to a finish with Escorpio Egipcio barred from the arena.

Chikarticles Wrestler of the Week: Lince Dorado
———————————————

Height: 5’7
Weight: 171 Pounds
Theme Song: “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor
Chikara Accomplishments: 2008 King of Trios Winner (along with Incognito and El Pantera)
Signature Moves: Shooting Star Press, Shooting Star Senton, Lionsault
Notable Feuds: Mitch Ryder (Capped off the feud after winning a Hair vs. Mask Match at the Season 7 Finale)

2007: “The Golden Lynx” Lince Dorado made his first appearance in Chikara at their annual King of Trios Tournament. Teamed with Sicodelico Jr. and El Pantera, Team Mucha Lucha were favored to make it far in the King of Trios. They made it past the first two rounds (defeating Team PWG and Hallowicked/Up In Smoke) but fell short to Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw and Shane Storm in the semi-finals, who went on to win the 2007 King of Trios. After experimenting the Chikara Tag Team Division in March with Sicodelico Jr. and Jigsaw, Dorado tore right into the singles competition at Rey de Voladores (King of the High-Fliers). In his first singles match, he outlasted Ruckus and Equinox and pulled an upset over Jigsaw in a four-way-dance to meet Chuck Taylor in the finals. Just like his appearance in the 2007 King of Trios, Lince Dorado fell short of winning the big one falling victim to Chuck Taylor’s Omega Driver. When May rolled around, Lince Dorado’s so-far wonderful debut year came to a screeching halt after Mitch Ryder fouled Dorado at Aniversario!. Mitch Ryder took an instant dislike to Lince “Dorito” because he didn’t like the fact that the “hoochadors” were invading U.S. Territory. Lince Dorado, a man who takes great pride in his heritage and the luchador legacy, took offense to Ryder’s words and actions and didn’t back down from a single fight. After pinning Ryder at Young Lions Cup Night Three, Ryder sent out the Kings of Wrestling to do his dirty work. Lince outlasted the attack, defeating Chris Hero at Showdown at Crisisland and along with El Pantera, beat Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli at Maximum Overdraft. After once again beating Mitch Ryder at New Star Navigation, Ryder grew frustrated and challenged Dorado to a Hair vs. Mask match. Lince would go on to win the infamous Hair vs. Mask match, seriously injuring himself in the process. It was confirmed by Dorado that after a botched Shooting Star Senton, he had given himself a severe concussion causing him to go legally blind in his left eye.

2008: Lince Dorado made a quiet return in January in a trios match, making sure he was good to go for the big trios tournament in March. When Chikara returned for King of Trios, Lince Dorado made his hyper-drive return, teaming with El Pantera and Incognito blasting past first and second round competition. By the time Night Three of KOT rolled around, the pretenders were separated from the contenders in semi-finals action. In a hard fought match (in which the fans were heavily pulling for The Colony to win), Incognito scored the fall over Worker Ant to meet BLKOUT in the finals. BLKOUT played dirty, taking action to the outside of the ring and Kingston stooped so low to make fun of Lince Dorado’s November incident. Lince Dorado truly earned his nickname “Golden Lynx” after he submitted Eddie Kingston with the Chikara Special. Though he had won the largest tournament in wrestling history, he saw no success in the following months. As a matter of fact, Lince didn’t pull out a win until Young Lions Cup weekend, eight events since King of Trios. Dorado went on to lose his second match later that night. At Triumph and Tragedy in July, Dorado would ignite a mini-feud against Eddie Kingston. King absolutely dominated this match and embarrassed Dorado to the locker room— all in under five minutes. Dorado would face Kingston again less than two months later only to get beaten into a fine putty again. He didn’t let that tarnish his fighting spirit, though, as he begged Kingston to come back to the ring for Round 2. Dorado looked to be on the offensive end until Kingston fouled Dorado, giving Dorado his only singles victory over Eddie Kingston. Dorado would go on to win La Loteria Letal Tournament, granting him and Jimmy “Equinox” Olsen a shot at tag team gold. One night before the title match took place, those two teammates were forced to go head-to-head in the Cibernetico match where we saw Kingston’s “Backfist to the Future” thrown by Jimmy “Equinox” Olsen knock out Lince Dorado for the elimination. The following night, The Osirian Portal successfully defended their belts against Lince Dorado and Jimmy “Equinox” Olsen, winning two falls to one. Since then, Dorado has seen success in two consecutive exhibition trios matches.

2009: Since winning the 2008 King of Trios, Lince Dorado has been on a bit of a slump. He lost a mini-feud against Eddie Kingston, got eliminated from Cibernetico Begins by his own partner and has been invited to join UnStable. In 2009, look for Lince Dorado to dust off a few high-flying moves and become more dare-devilish. His feud with Eddie Kingston is far from over, so expect to see those two become a main-attraction in Chikara this year. I don’t see a repeat in terms of King of Trios, but I do think he can win 2009’s Rey de Voladores if he plays his cards right. The year of 2009 will be Lince Dorado’s biggest to date— bank on it.
