Winner: “The Moscow Mauler” Vladimir Kozlov.

As far as battle royals go, this one was decent. It was unfair that the only entrants introduced were Khali and Kozlov. After the match, The Moscow Mauler takes the mic and delivers a speech mostly in Russian and we go to commercial break.

Todd Grisham is backstage with Hurricane Helms and wants his opinion about Matt Hardy turning on his brother, Jeff Hardy, at The Royal Rumble. Helms says that he was surprised as anybody but looking back on it he shouldn’t have been. Hurricane is siding with Jeff and is looking for Matt. Edge is backstage with Vickie and his title belt and Edge is worried about The Elimination Chamber match and defending his title. Big Show appears and Edge is not happy with Show. We go to commercial break.

Matt Hardy is in the ring with chants of “We Want Jeff!” from the fans. Hardy says Helms doesn’t have to try to find him, he’s right here. He calls Hurricane out and Helms obliges. We have an impromptu fight going on between the two. The battle moves outside with Matt trying to get away, but Hurricane pulls him back and Hardy sends Helms into the steel steps outside the ring. The action moves back into the ring with Matt beating Hurricane until two referees appear to stop him. It appears Hardy has completed his heel turn and we go to commercial break.

”The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin, United States Champion vs. M.V.P.

Porter slides into the ring ready to go and when the ref calls for the bell, he goes after Benjamin with full force. Shelton manages to turn the tables and get back into the game, but MVP cuts him off with an elbow shot to the jaw. Shelton drops Porter on the ropes and the match moves outside with Montel being dropped on the security wall. Back in the ring, Benjamin goes for the cover getting two. The crowd gets behind M.V.P. with loud chants. Benjamin delivers a gut buster and gets two. Porter delivers a hip toss but is slow getting back to his feet. MVP delivers an overhead throw, covers and gets two. Benjamin delivers a sunset flip and gets two. Shelton misses a kick but Porter doesn’t. He covers and gets two. Benjamin delivers a back breaker but is slow to cover, getting two. Shelton delivers a squash in the corner but misses the second one. MVP misses the kick in the corner but delivers a kick to the head, covers and gets three.

Winner: M.V.P.

This was a short match but a good one. Both of these men are talented and worked well against each other. Primo and Carlito are backstage with the Bella Twins, R-Truth shows up and we go to commercial break.

WWE Smack of the Night: Carlito and Primo vs. John Morrison and The Miz, tag team champions against tag team champions. Carlito was pinned by Miz.

Six Man Tag Team Match: John Morrison and The Miz, WWE World Tag Team Champions, and “The” Brian Kendrick with Ezekiel Jackson vs. Primo and Carlito, WWE Tag Team Champions and R-Truth

This may be the first time I have seen Truth come down the entrance ramp like everyone else. The ref calls for the bell and Primo begins the match against Miz. Primo is quick in the ring, and goes for an early cover before tagging in Carlito. R-Truth gets the tag and Miz gets a foot to the face. Brian jumps into the ring, distracting the ref and allowing Morrison to deliver a cheap shot to Truth. John gets the tag, goes for a cover and gets one. Kendrick gets the tag. TBK stomps on Truth and covers for two before tagging in Morrison. Brian tags in, covers and gets two. Kendrick delivers the camel clutch, Truth makes it to Carlito for the tag and the “San Juan Southpaw” goes wild on TBK before knocking Miz and Morrison off the apron. Carlito goes for a cover but Miz and Morrison are in to break it up. Primo takes out Miz, Morrison takes out Primo, Truth takes out Morrison. Carlito drops TBK on the top rope, Miz distracts, TBK hits The Brian Kendrick and gets the three.

Winners: Kendrick, Morrison and Miz

Not a bad match but again not long enough to give everyone a chance to work the ring. We go to commercial break.

Diva’s Match: Eve Torres vs. Michelle McCool

This was Eve’s first match. Maria has to show up to save Torres.

Winner: Michelle McCool via submission
Matt Hardy is backstage and JR tells him that Jeff Hardy will be back next week but Matt says he doesn’t have a brother anymore. Hardy says if Jeff does show up next week, he will be waiting for him and we go to commercial break.

”The Samoan Bulldozer” Umaga vs. Kung Fu Naki

This doesn’t look good for Kung and he gets a foot to the face almost immediately. Umaga delivers the Samoan Spike, covers and gets three.

Winner: Umaga

The entrances took longer than the match. Umaga got some new tattoos while he was away but his method of working the ring doesn’t appear to have changed. Trips is backstage taping up his hands and we go to commercial break.

We see Randy Orton’s attack on the McMahon’s on Monday Night Raw and how Kane will be in the Elimination Chamber Match and Undertaker will face Orton on Monday. Ric Flair is also scheduled to be on Raw next week.

Jim Ross and Tazz go over the matches for the No Way Out pay per view.

Main Event: Tag Team Match – ”Rated R Superstar” Edge, WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and Big Show and we go to commercial break.

vs. “The Game” Triple H and The Undertaker

The bell rings and Taker takes on Show to begin the match. Big Show takes down the Dead Man and tags in Edge. Undertaker goes to work on the Rated R Superstar, then tags in Trips. HHH continues the assault on Edge keeping him away from his tag team partner. Edge goes for a spear, The Game goes for a pedigree, Edge rolls outside and we go to commercial break.

Back to the action, Trips chases Edge back into the ring and delivers a high knee, going for the cover and getting two. Triple H delivers a suplex and a knee drop, covers and again gets two. Show tags himself in as HHH delivers a spine buster to Edge. The Game didn’t see the tag and gets caught with a clothesline. Show delivers a head butt and an elbow drop, covers and gets two before tagging in the Rated R Superstar. Edge goes for a cover and gets two. Taker paces on the apron as Trips tries to get back to his feet. Edge delivers a sunset flip for two and tags in Big Show. Show delivers a sloppy squash, covers and gets two. Trips comes back with fists but gets caught with a side slam as he comes off the ropes. Big Show covers and gets two. Edge delivers a spear in the corner and goes for a second but HHH gets out of the way and both men are down. Edge tags in Show but The Game can’t get to Undertaker. Big Show steps on Trips, comes off the second rope and meets the mat as The Game rolls out of the way. The fans are chanting “Triple H”. HHH comes off the top delivering a DDT and both men are down. Show tags in Edge as Trips tags in Taker. The Dead Man goes after both men still in the ring, delivering Snake Eyes to Edge, then going old school. Show catches Taker on the ropes, Edge takes Taker down, Taker has Edge in the submission hold but Big Show breaks it up. Taker tags in Trips who delivers the face buster, but Show is in the ring to stop him from applying the pedigree. Show and Edge have words, Show delivers a blow to Edge, Edge is now down on the mat. Trips tags in The Dead Man who delivers the Tombstone piledriver, covers and gets three.

Winners: The Undertaker and Triple H

This was a great main event giving all four men time to work and show their talents. The winners were a plus, of course.

I was late beginning this report due to a telephone call as Smackdown started. When this particular person’s name shows up on my Caller ID, the phone is always answered. While this space is normally reserved for Independent promotions and Indy wrestlers, tonight this space is for Merri, who found out that her Mother has been diagnosed with cancer. To Merri, (along with Dean, Honey, Flower and Ginger), who would do anything for me and mine, and for her Mom, who managed to create one of the best friends a human or companion animal could ever have…we are here for you always!
