SAVING ABEL GUITARIST ACCUSED OF FORCEFUL SEX ACT WITH A MINOR, MORE…

Saving Abel guitarist and co-founder Jason Null has been charged for committing an illegal sex act at a concert in Oakland on Tuesday, after allegedly forcing a 17-year-old girl to perform oral sex on him while inside the band’s tour bus. Also named as a defendant was Brandon Danger, a guitar stringer for the band, who is alleged to have picked the girl out of the crowd after the band had finished their set, and who may or may not have taken part in the actual offense as well.

Null, 33, and Danger, 21, were arrested at the scene of the incident, the Oracle Arena—where the Nickelback Jr.-type band was one of several opening for crapcore band Avenged Sevenfold—after the girl and her 15-year-old brother notified security, who subsequently called the police. According to Oakland Special Victims Unit Officer Ross Tisdell, Danger had approached the girl in the crowd after the end of the band’s set, at around 10:45 p.m., asking her if she wanted to be in a “rock video” which was supposedly going to be filmed in the band’s bus, parked outside the arena. Once inside the bus, the girl was “forced and intimidated” into performing the sex act, though after saying that she wanted to stop, she was allowed to leave the bus. That was when the venue’s security was notified.

Both men were arraigned on Friday on felony counts of forced oral copulation and forced oral copulation with a minor. (Ouch! That sucks even more than being a Nickelback wannabe.) While Null posted his $90,000 bail, the lowly guitar stringer remains in police custody, unable to pay his $60,000 bail, and will enter a plea in an Oakland court on Tuesday.

“It is our position that the charges that have been made are baseless,” said Null’s attorney. “He will be fully exonerated once this case is fully investigated. There is a videotape of the entire incident that the police knew about that they failed to collect at the time of the incident. We are in the process of getting that to the district attorney for their review.”

Forgive me if I’m not reading that correctly, but I’d infer from the above statement that something not quite kosher did happen on that tour bus. Even if it was consensual, as Null reportedly told the police, he’d still be looking at some sort of charges for receiving helmet from a 17-year-old.
