FOX has found the other half of its Absolutely Fabulous duo in the person of Revolutionary Road co-star Kathryn Hahn.
Hahn will star opposite Kristen Johnston in the remake of the classic Britcom. She leads the latest round of pilot casting, which also finds Fringe’s Mark Valley moving on to another FOX project and a host of actors joining HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, the showbiz trade papers report.
Hahn and Johnston both took part in a table read of the pilot script, which was written by former Saturday Night Live scribe Christine Zander, late last month. Hahn will play Eddie (the Jennifer Saunders role from the original), and Johnston will be her equally boozy and self-obsessed best friend, Patsy.
Hahn was a regular on Crossing Jordan for several seasons. Her credits also include Anchorman, Step Brothers and The Holiday.
FOX’s Human Target is based on the DC Comics title. It will star Valley, who’s currently recurring on Fringe, will play the title role, a security consultant who takes on the identities of his clients.
HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, set in early 20th century Atlantic City, has added four people to its cast, the Hollywood Reporter says. Aleksa Palladino (Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead) will play the wife of Michael Pitt’s character. Shea Whigham (Fast & Furious) will play a corrupt cop who’s the brother of Steve Buscemi’s liquor distributor. Paul Sparks (Rachel Getting Married) will play a bootlegger who fronts as a funeral director, and Anthony Laciura will play Buscemi’s assistant.
Finally, another HBO pilot, David Simon’s Treme, has added Rob Brown (The Express) to its cast. He’ll play the son of Clarke Peters’ character.
