The Office – Episode 5-14 Review

Shows, Top Story

“Lecture Circuit” Part II continues with Pam driving Michael to Nashua to see Holly and Dwight and Jim dealing with the pressures that accompany heading up the Party Planning Committee.

Kelly is grilled by Dwight over the reasons for her spending a few months in juvi as a teenager, and Jim buys her a plain white cake which only makes her post-birthday birthday party even worse. Jim and Dwight continue to struggle with coordinating a simple birthday party and applying a theme.

Angela has bought a new ($7,000) cat, Princess Lady, and is monitoring her via webcam. When she finds one of her other cats humping Princess Lady, she leaves the office to resolve the situation but forgets to turn her computer monitor off.

Meanwhile, Michael and Pam arrive at the Nashua branch to find Holly away on an HR retreat. The receptionist tells them that if they need to contact her, they can talk to her boyfriend–A.J.–who is sitting nearby. Michael considers not giving his lecture, but instead uses it as an opportunity to ask Holly boyfriend “casual” personal questions about his relationship. Michael eventually snaps during his line of questioning and flat out asks A.J. if Holly “ever mentions Michael Scott”. As he crawls out of the conference room, Michael leaves Pam with a few note cards so that she can continue the lecture.

As Pam awkwardly continues the lecture, horrible character impersonations included, Michael goes to Holly’s desk and steals a sleeve of her sweater and a document titled “Dear Michael” from her computer.

Oscar and Kevin watch Angela tend to her cats on her webcam.

“The psychological issues that go behind licking a cat are not things I want to go into.”

Angela returns and coughs up a small hairball. Oscar and Kevin pretend to not have been watching her webcam.

Pam reads Holly’s letter to Michael for him, and tells him that Holly certainly still has feelings for him. Michael is relieved and they leave Nashua satisfied.

Kelly’s birthday party commences, complete with a chiclet on her cake that represents “a pillow or television” as Jim and Dwight are offering her either an hour of television or an hour-long nap as a gift. Kelly is very happy with this, and finds herself too excited to sleep.
