SURVIVOR: TOCANTINA

A new season of Survivor is here and this time they go to the Tocantins: The Brazilian Highlands. The first castaway to get eliminated this past week was Carolina Eastwood. Usually the first person voted off is considered really weak or old or really annoying. Carolina didn’t seem to be any of those things, though. Reality Dish writer, Billy Debney, got the chance to talk to Carolina and ask her about her Survivor experience. Here is what she had to say…

Carolina Eastwood: Hi Billy!

Billy Debney: Hey Carolina. First off…how did you apply for Survivor?

CE: Well I was recruited. At first I didn’t think it was true…I kind of thought she was a crazy person. I was like are you kidding me? But then I realized it wasn’t a joke…but yea I was recruited.

BD: Where were you when that happened?

CE: I was actually with a friend of mine who was on the phone with one of the recruiters. I made some comment, some joke, and the person on the other line was like “oh my god I have to meet her!” Next thing you know I was getting emails…this person wanted to meet me…and it kind of went from there.

BD: Was Survivor everything you imagined it would be…even though you were the first to go?

CE: You know…Survivor was a journey of a life time. It was the greatest gift I’ve ever been given. God gives you what you need at that time. I gained weight for survivor, went to nutritionist…I trained hard for it. But I guess it wasn’t my time to play the game completely. It was everything I could imagine and I am so proud and blessed to be part of this family now. So yes it was everything I could have imagined………Although getting snuffed by Jeff was not that fun! Seriously I think he gets a thrill out of it. He acts all sad when these people are going….but really he likes snuffing them.

BD: What was your game plan going in?

CE: Well I knew that I needed to play a social game…and it’s so funny. Survivor became my life until we started filming. So I knew I needed to play a social game, but the funny thing is that you can’t really do anything until you meet your tribe. You think you’ll play one way…but then you meet them. Who you think is the strongest ends up being the weakest. So you know it’,s tough. But my goal was to play socially. I also did not want to be the girl who road coat tails. I was going to work just as hard as the boys.

BD: How surprised were you when it wasn’t Sandy that went?

CE: Well I had a weird feeling…and knew Spencer was up to something. So I called out JT and Stephen…I thought I could trust them but they said they weren’t voting me out. But I was still worried because I was so vocal about getting the shelter done. But what you didn’t see is JT wanted it done as much as me…Taj wanted it as much as me. It was 120 degrees and we needed shade. I have a lot of respect for Sandy…but I was pissed cause she did nothing. And I worked so hard to be there. It was devastating….it was embarrassing.

BD: Do you have any regrets? Would you have changed anything?

CE: I have no regrets. Things happen in life…sometimes we don’t understand them. I have zero regrets…I don’t take back anything I said. And I got to play a game that I will always cherish and will always be close to my heart. Everyone that puts work into that game is amazing. I don’t live my life with regrets. I’m blessed and I’m happy.

BD: What do you hope this show does for you. Personally and professionally?

CE: Well I moved to LA 3 years ago by myself to be an actress. I really have wanted to be an actress since before I could walk. I’ve also always really wanted to host my show. So hopefully Survivor can open up some doors for me.
