Christopher Nolan, the mastermind behind last years The Dark Knight, has a new film lined up to direct and sadly it is not a third Batman film.

This should not comes as such a huge shock as Nolan took a short break from the caped crusader when he directed The Prestige in 2006.

Nolan will begin production this summer on the original story that was wrote is described by Warner Bros. as a contemporary sci-fi action film set within the architecture of the mind.

Nolan was written or co-written all of the films he’s directed save Insomnia. While The Prestige was a adapted from a novel and Memento and Following were adapted from short stories by his brother Jonathan, Inception is the first film of his own creation.

The studio hopes to bring Nolan back for a third Batfilm, but the filmmaker hasn’t yet committed to that. The Dark Knight has raked in nearly $1 billion in worldwide box office since its release last summer.
