Latest on Jericho, Rourke & Hogan at WrestleMania

News

The latest ‘official’ word on Mickey Rourke’s involvement with WrestleMania 25 is that he will be at the event but not in a wrestling role. Speaking to New York Magazine at a recent fashion show in New York, Rourke said “We’re gonna go in support. Vince McMahon, Roddy Piper, and Ric Flair have been such a part of the movie. So whatever support I can give back to all those people from WWE, I’m gonna do that.” When asked about why the plug was pulled on Rourke’s rumoured match with Chris Jericho, Rourke’s publicist took the actor away and said told the reporter that “We don’t need to talk about that.”

With Rourke not confirmed for a WrestleMania match, the annual rumour mill regarding Hulk Hogan working a match at WrestleMania has begun again. The story is that Hogan would fight Jericho to stand up for the Legends who Jericho has been disrespecting lately, perhaps with Rourke in his corner. This could also involve Ric Flair or Roddy Piper, both of whom have come to blows with Jericho on Raw in recent weeks. Hogan worked as a special guest referee for free in Reid Flair’s debut match, whilst Piper was his opponent at the first WrestleMania, which Piper referenced on Raw en route to the event’s 25th anniversary. This could also all tie into the release of the Legends of WrestleMania video game, which features Hogan.
