Amy Smart To Star in New ABC Pilot, See Cate Run

News

Amy Smart could be the future president of the United States — provided her pilot gets picked up.

Smart (Smith, Just Friends) has taken the lead role in ABC’s pilot See Cate Run, about a woman who may be destined to lead the country. A pair of FOX pilots — the comedy Two Dollar Beer and a drama about “past-life investigators” — have also added to their casts, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

See Cate Run, formerly titled I, Claudia, is about a woman (Smart) who will one day be a serious presidential contender. In the present, though, she’s a young prosecutor, and the nation’s highest office is nowhere on her radar.

Smart’s last TV series was CBS’ Smith, which lasted only a handful of episodes in fall 2006. She starred in a CBS pilot called The Meant to Be’s last year; her recent movie credits include Mirrors and Crank 2: High Voltage, which will hit theaters in April.

At FOX, Two Dollar Beer is an ensemble comedy about a group of young Detroiters who lean on each other while trying to handle the tough economic times. The cast includes Jonathan Sadowski (Friday the 13th) as a former high school athlete, Noureen Dewulf (The Comebacks) and Kevin Simpson as a married couple and Ricky Mabe (Beautiful People, Zack and Miri Make a Porno) as a guy who’s described as “a bit off.”

The reincarnation drama, which comes from Friday Night Lights writer David Hudgins, is about a team of investigators who look into clients’ past lives to solve problems in this one. Australian actor Nick Bishop will play a recently fired detective whose wife recently died. All My Children actress Kelli Giddish will play a psychologist who believes in reincarnation, and Ravi Patel (Easy Money) will play a therapist.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
