ABC Pilot, Eastwick, Adds Lipstick Jungle's Lindsay Price To Cast

News

ABC’s drama pilot Eastwick has found its second witch in Lindsay Price, which could be a bad omen for Price’s current show, Lipstick Jungle.

Price joins Jaime Ray Newman in a lead role on Eastwick, which is a loose adaptation of the John Updike novel The Witches of Eastwick and the 1987 feature film. It centers on three women whose powers as witches start to develop; Price will play one of them, a reporter for the local newspaper.

Her casting in the pilot is formally in second place to Lipstick Jungle, according to The Hollywood Reporter. NBC hasn’t cancelled the show yet, and network executives have said they’d like to find a way to keep it alive, either on the network or somewhere else in the NBC Universal family. It’s generally not a good sign, though, when one of the stars of a bubble show takes a role elsewhere.

Lipstick Jungle averaged a meager 5.1 million viewers a week this season, although its ratings among women were somewhat better. NBC co-chairman Ben Silverman said last month that the network was looking into a possible cost-sharing deal similar to the one it engineered with DirecTV for Friday Night Lights this season. A move to one of NBCU’s cable channels is also a possibility.

In addition to Lipstick, Price’s TV credits include Beverly Hills, 90210, NBC’s Coupling remake and Pepper Dennis.

More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
