The Masters of 1,000 Holds
On the 145th Episode of Chikara Podcast-A-Go-Go, Mike Quackenbush mentioned he was working on gathering a group of “a dying fraternity” for King of Trios. Reluctant, yet excited, Quackenbush and Wiggly transitioned to the next clip holding back from revealing too much information. The fans were waiting in the dark until it was revealed that Mike Quackenbush and his trainer Jorge “Skayde” Rivera were part of a new trio set to debut at King of Trios 2009 Weekend. Another bombshell was dropped in the form of a Special Podcast-A-Go-Go update when Johnny Saint accepted Mike Quackenbush’s invitation to Chikara as the third man of their trio.

When Mike Quackenbush called the group of men a “dying fraternity”, he was referring to wrestlers who were known as a Master of 1,000 Holds. That term is not a nickname, it’s a style of wrestling. The men who have had that moniker did not debut with it; they were rewarded it after years of training. At King of Trios, we will see Masters of 1,000 Holds from America, Mexico and the United Kingdom unite to make one of the most powerful trios to ever enter a Chikara ring.

Claudio’s Trio
Claudio Castagnoli returned from his Pro Wrestling NOAH tour shocked to see Mike Quackenbush assembled a “supergroup trio”. Even though they are rivals, Claudio and Quack are co-trainers at the Chikara Wrestle Factory and have an unbelievable amount of respect for each other. The idea of Quack forming two other Masters of 1,000 Holds inspired Claudio to assemble a trio of his own: Team Uppercut.

Claudio can hit the European Uppercut from anywhere in the ring; he is a Master of the European Uppercut. Determined to match the magnitude of the Masters of 1,000 Holds, Claudio sent out an invitation to seasoned veteran Dave Taylor, who accepted. Dave Taylor has wrestled for World Wrestling Entertainment and dominated the tag team division along side William Regal. But Dave Taylor isn’t famous for his work in WWE or WCW. Dave Taylor is famous for being one tough son-of-a-bitch and for throwing one of the meanest European Uppercuts in the business. Team Uppercut’s third member has yet to be announced and they are already a favorite to win the tournament.

ISW Title Up For Grabs at King of Trios
For the very first time in ISW history, the ISW Title will be defended in the USA! Reigning champion Player Uno will take on fellow Canadian Twiggy on the 2nd Night of the King of Trios Tournament.
