UFC 98 Bouts Finalized

News, Top Story

The co-main events for UFC 98 have been finalized, and there are several other rumored bouts that haven’t been confirmed.

The main event of the show is the real draw. The rematch between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir is going to be one of the biggest fights in UFC history, and perhaps even the largest. A rematch between the two was already highly anticipated (even immediately after the first fight), but Frank Mir’s emotional  post-fight promo after defeating Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira to capture the interim heavyweight championship in December probably added 400,000 pay per view buys to the event.

The other confirmed fight is the long-awaited grudge match between Matt Hughes and Matt Serra. The fight was originally supposed to happen in December of 2007, but an injury to Serra forced the fight to be postponed. There’s no doubt that the delay in putting the fight together has taken some of the anticipation off the bout, but there are still plenty of people who want to see it.

The only other official bout for the show is Yushin Okami taking on Dan Miller.

Other rumored main card bouts include Josh Koscheck taking on Chris Wilson and Sean Sherk versus Frankie Edgar.
