Frank Mir Injured, Off UFC 98

News

Details are still pretty sketchy and I’m trying to get confirmation on the story, but there are reports coming out of Las Vegas today saying that Frank Mir injured his knee last week in training and is out of UFC 98. The reports also state that Mir had the surgery last week as well, which, if correct, means the UFC knew about Mir’s injury before the on-sale date for UFC 98 tickets and still proceeded to sell the tickets without notifying the public.

I’ll have continuing coverage of this story as I get more information.

UPDATE: When asked about Mir’s injury at the UFC 96 weigh-ins, UFC President Dana White had the following to say:

“I don’t know anything about it, so I honestly couldn’t tell you anything about it. I’m not too worried about it now. If that were the situation, I’d know about it. I honestly don’t know right now. I haven’t talked to Frank and I haven’t talked to Lesnar and if that’s the situation, I’m not going to make any statements until I talk to everybody.”
