TNA Cutting Costs; Danielson Going MMA

News

TNA has been on a cost-cutting spree lately, in particular with regards to office and travel expenses. A number of income streams have been affected in recent times. Jakks Pacific cannot start on new TNA action figures until their WWE license expires. Midway may not be around to make the second TNA video game. The company behind TNA DVDs is in bad shape and sales have been on the low side in any case. They are also cutting back on the number of people booked for TV and will be altering their Impact taping schedules. Starting in May they will tape four shows over three days on the week of the PPV events held in Orlando. The May PPV is on the 24th and then Impact will be taped on the 26-28th. This means everything has to be booked a month in advance and enables them to only bring the film crew to Orlando once a month. The next Orlando PPV after that is on the 19th July, although they plan to go on the road for PPV less often as they are not making enough at the gate to justify the travel costs.

Bryan Danielson’s ROH contract expires in May and he has not renewed it yet. He has been training in MMA at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, up to five hours a day, and has plans to do three months Muay Thai training in Thailand.
