As Inside Fights exclusively reported on Monday morning, Affliction’s Tom Atencio will be stepping into the cage on June 27th to fight. The bout, which will be Atencio’s first in the United States, will be on the undercard of the Bobby Lashley/Bob Sapp main event in Biloxi.
MMA Mania confirmed our initial report today, and added comments from Atencio regarding the fight:
“I love this sport and I am not a wannabe. I’ve fought before and I have respect for anyone who steps into the ring win, lose or draw. They’re doing something that most of the world will never do. I think (it will be contested at) 160, maybe 155. Not sure I can make 155 at 42 years old.
Atencio last fought against David Martinez (and won, actually) in January of 2005.
