Gossip Girl – Episode 2-21 Review

Top Story

This week’s episode made me incredibly annoyed. Blair is off to Nate’s cousin Tripp’s wedding reheasal. These two are making me sick. I am ready to stop watching. Can Nate go ONE episode without changing his mind on who he likes. Here’s a concept: let him be single!

Serena is back from Spain and talks to Chuck about his new conquest (aka another girl he is unsuccessfully using to get over Blair). Poppy didn’t go to Spain, according to Chuck who saw her last week. Serena randomly calls Cyrus and tells him she needs a laywer. Oh geez, not another “big secret.”

Jenny is hanging out with Wes, her science lab partner who is incredibly creepy looking, even worse than Aaron. Dan is still concerned about his lack of financial aid to Yale and Jenny tells him that she may be able to get him a job with Wes’ parents’ catering company.

Nate got into Columbia and can’t decide between that and Yale. His grandfather tries to push Blair into convincing Nate to go to Yale. He even tells her he will get her into Yale. But Blair throws in another condition–she wants to be a bridesmaid.

Dan is working at the catering company and it turns out they are catering for Blair’s family and Dan isn’t too thrilled about that, but needs the money.

Lily is pissed at Serena for leaving and she grounds her. She leaves anyway to see Cyrus after learning Blair won’t be there. And…oh my god! We find out S’ little secret is that she got married in Spain and wants it annulled. And guess who else happened to hear that little bit of info? That’s right, the caterer Daniel Humphrey.

Serena tells Dan the story and it’s the most ridiculous one I’ve ever heard. Basically, Poppy and her boyfriend Gabriel got in a fight and somehow Serena ends up getting with him and marrying him. Um…OK. She’s not even sure it was legal because it was all in Spanish. Oh please, she can speak every other language, but not Spanish?!? Anyway, Dan points out that she is smiling and he admits that he is insulted.

Rufus and Lily join the Waldorfs for dinner, not knowing that Dan will be serving them. Serena tells them she invited Dan. Dan is actually kind of funny in this episode. I’m telling you, things are so much better when he and Serena aren’t together.

Jenny is hanging out with Wes and Chuck barges in with a random girl and Jenny tells him off. She says she would never want to live in the same house with him after what he tried to do to her last year and that he’s lucky she didn’t tell her dad.

Gabriel shows up at Passover dinner and is pissed that Serena disappeared. Dan is the best as he stands there with a little smirk on his face. Serena claims Dan is her boyfriend to get him to go away, and Dan goes along with it. Blair’s mom invites Gabriel to dinner. Serena grabs Dans hand and they hilariously act together while at dinner.

Blair tries to talk Nate into going to Yale and he doesn’t want to go. Nate calls out his grandfather during the toast for being the one who had the investigators go after his dad. He later admits he did call the authorities, but only after he begged him to stop. Nate is fed up and just wants the truth. Well, it looks like he is going to tell Nate about his arrangement with Blair. Nate is angry and tells Blair he doesn’t trust her. “You’re still the same girl.”

Dan admits he is the caterer and that he and Serena aren’t together. She and Lily argue, but Serena finds out she got into Brown and they make up. She runs after Gabriel who tells her they aren’t married. They kiss. OK, are we really supposed to believe Serena is in love with this Gabriel clown? Ugh, this show is getting me so mad. Where’s the buildup?!? Blair and Chuck are the ONLY couple who actually have chemistry and you know why? The buildup! Anyway, turns out Poppy is in on the whole thing, but we have to wait until next week to find out what’s up.

Rufus sols a painting to a dinner guest and decides he is going to sell the gallery to help finance Dan’s education. Chuck actually apologizes to Jenny and promises that he will keep his distance. Meanwhile, Nate goes to see Blair and finds out they will both be in the city next year as she has an interview at NYU courtesy of Cyrus. Blair and Nate makeout. Ugh…

A lot happened this episode. Just nothing that I liked. Hopefully next week will be better!
