SURVIVOR: TOCANTINA

Joe Dowdle was the…..well he wasn’t even voted out of Survivor-Tocantins.  Joe is now part of the eliminated due to injury club. I had a chance to talk to him about his injury, his fake idol and what he thinks it takes to play this game. Here is what he had to say….

Billy Debney: Hey Joe how’s it going?

Joe Dowdle: Not bad Billy how are you?

BD: Oh not too bad. So when did you actually injure your knee?

JD: It happened at the immunity challenge where we were rolling blocks, stacking up to spell Jalapao. I scraped it…and then at the sling shot one I fell and I kinda felt some stuff get in there. When I woke up the next morning it was already off and running. And then it just kept getting worse.

BD: So when Jeff asked you to hang back, did you think it was over right there?

JD: My first natural thought was that they were gonna tell me the idol was fake. But then when the medics came over I realized they were really gonna lean hard on getting me out of there.

BD: Did you have any plans for that idol?

JD: Yea I was gonna use it as fire wood. I was gonna bring it to tribal and throw it in the fire.

BD: But at that point you didn’t know it was fake?

JD: I had an idea that it was. I’m being honest. When I found it I had my adrenalin pumping. My first thought was this is yarn with beads on it. And that’s why I didnt give it to Syd. I wanted it to be real! I’ll tell you that much.

BD: Did you ever expect that Exile Alliance with Taj and them?

JD: Oh absolutely. They had been so many times. We talk and suspect it. I didn’t know exactlly who from Timbira would be in it…I didn’t really know if Brendan would bring anyone else in. But I knew they were up to something. I would have done the same thing.

BD: What was your favorite part about being in the game?

JD: You know, being able to compete in the challenges was awesome. I stayed really far under the radar, much to my detriment. It was just fun to be able to compete bro. And to go to exile with Erin and build a fire and have it keep going during the rain.

BD: Now obviously other then yourself, who would you have liked to see win this game? Including people already voted out.

JD: erry all the way! But from people still in it…JT, Stephen, Taj and Tyson probably.

BD: So you JUST missed the jury…how does it feel to make it that far and not quite make it.

JD: It was disappointing for sure. But it was totally out of my hands. But it would have been a lot of fun to be there.

BD: Was there anything you saw on the show that surprised you?

JD: Definitely Stephen’s involvment with the fake idol. I figured that I would be someone that they didn’t have to trick like that. But anyways..other then that not really. I was surprised to see some of the Timbira interactions. Like Sierra being with Brendan. And Tyson and Debbie on last night’s episode.

BD: Well in your last immunity challenge you outlasted Stephen even with your injury…how did that make you feel?

JD: (laughs) Well we make fun of Stephens running a lot. So it was just funny. Its funny to make fun of him. But he had an infection in his elbow similar to mine. But the antibiotics worked.

BD: Do you have any advice for future players?

JD: Dude..be manipulative and as deceptive as possible. I played that game to up front. And try to be likable.

BD: Alright well thats all I have for ya…thanks a lot Joe.

JD: Thanks Billy.
