Joseph Gordon-Levitt (star of the upcoming (500) Days of Summer and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) has signed on to star in Christopher Nolan’s Inception for Warner Bros. Pictures.
He joins Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy and Ellen Page in a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the "architecture of the mind."
The Hollywood Reporter says that Gordon-Levitt is taking the role that was to have been played by James Franco. Franco had to bow out of his commitment because of a scheduling conflict. His character is an associate of DiCaprio’s character, a CEO-type.
Cotillard plays DiCaprio’s wife, while Ellen Page is playing a grad student and DiCaprio’s sidekick.
The film starts shooting this summer for a July 16, 2010 release.
