Liam Neeson is "taking" home video by storm on May 12

Disc Announcements, News

Fox Home Entertainment has announced a 1-disc DVD and 2-disc DVD releases of Taken for May 12, 2009. Both will feature a 2.40:1 widescreen presentation, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. The 1-disc DVD will include an extended cut of the film and no extra material. The 2-disc DVD will include the extended cut with Audio Commentary with Director Pierre Morel, Writer Robert Mark Kamen, and Cinematographers Michel Abramowicz and Michel Julienne, a making-of featurette, an Avant Premiere feature, and Inside Action: Side by Side Comparisons feature which looks at 6 different sequences. A Blu-ray release will also be available with all of the above, plus a digital copy of the film.

Taken became one of the bigger sleeper hits of 2009 when it knocked the other unlikely hit of 2009, Paul Blart Mall Cop, off the #1 spot its opening weekend. It continued to draw big numbers, remaining in the Top 10 for 10 weeks straight.

Written and produced by Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, Leon the Professional, The Transporter series, District B13), Taken stars Liam Neeson as a retired CIA operative whose daughter (Maggie Grace) is kidnapped while on a vacation to Europe. In typical Besson style, much ass-kicking ensues as Neeson attempts to rescue his daughter from the underground sex-trade organization that has taken her.

She prefers horror movies to chick flicks, and she can easily hang with the guys as long as there are several frou-frou girlie drinks to be had.
