One Tree Hill – Episode 6-21 Review

This week’s episode actually moved forward with some storylines. While I still find last week’s car crash pointless, I see that they used it as a platform for this week’s flashbacks.

Lucas is secretly working on Peyton’s Comet and finds a concert ticket to the Cure, which is one of Peyton’s favorite bands. Cut to flashback of post-grad/pre-breakup Leyton. I love flashbacks. Not only are they fun, but we get a glimpse into the five years we missed. But man, was I bored.

I love Lucas and Peyton, but I was hoping for a little more. To me, the flashbacks were poorly shot with horrible makeup and a horrific wig used on Hilary. I was too distracted to get into what they were saying. Basically, the whole point seemingly was to convince us that the upcoming Leyton wedding is warranted, perhaps so Brucas fans would actually accept this couple. I don’t know, I was a little disappointed with it all. Could have been juicier!

Nathan runs into Devon, the guy who got kicked off the team, as he begs for his position back. Nathan sympathizes with him since they both share the same dream and same family situation. Nathan finds out that a European team wants him and his coach encourages him to to take it. He doesn’t.

While Haley supports him 100 percent, he just can’t settle for anything less than the NBA. He actually tells the European scout to try out Devon. I don’t know. I think it is great that Nathan wants to make his dream a reality, but I just hope it works out. At this point, I’d be pissed if he settled for something else. It’s taking too long too!

Haley is busy producing Mia’s album and getting visits from none other than Nick Lachey. Random? Definitely. Anyway, he wants to buy a song of hers and she is hesitant about selling her music. But after hearing him sing it, she agrees as long as she can produce it. I actually think this is a good move for Haley. Sure I like to see her sing, but she seems to be really good at songwriting and producing, and it leaves her time for her family.

Jamie spends times with Skillz who is after Jamie’s teacher. He teaches Jamie a thing or two about girls and they both show up at the dance. While Jamie seems to be striking out with his crush Madison, Skillz and the teacher hit it off. Madison and Jamie eventually hold hands. Cute.

Mia finds out that Chase lost his virginity to Brooke and she is shocked and feeling insecure. Blah. I got so mad when Chase says that he thought he was in love with Brooke until he met Mia. Come on! These two barely get screen time (which I am OK with), so how are we supposed to believe they are in love. Besides, I don’t like that they basically just ruined the Chase/Brooke relationship for those of us that might ever want to re-watch Season 4. That rubbed me the wrong way.

Finally, the big storyline. Victoria and Sam have been spending a lot of time together and Brooke is not liking it at all. She knows that Victoria is doing it to make up for not spending time with Brooke when she was that age. I totally understand where Brooke is coming from and she is obviously jealous and hurt that Victoria never did those things for her.

Meanwhile, Brooke finds out that Sam’s birth mother is trying to get in touch with her. But, Victoria has been shredding the letters. Being the good mom she is, Brooke supports Sam wanting to talk to her real mother. You could tell it broke her heart a little, but she tried to stay strong.

Stay tuned for next week as we get closer and closer to the wedding (and Julian’s return)!
