It looks like mixed martial arts fans aren’t the only ones enjoying UFC 2009 Undisputed; the fine folks over at Gamespot have become so obsessed with the game that they’ve decided to hold a welterweight tournament to determine the office champion.
Gamespot’s Brian Ek sets up the tourney:
First it destroyed my hand and now UFC 2009 Undisputed has infected the entire GameSpot office. I’m having trouble remembering the last time a game took over GS HQ so thoroughly. Homer and I spent way too much time talking about the game while in NYC for the Madden unveiling and, now that we’re back, we’ve watched the game spread like wildfire among editorial, the GS video team, and beyond.
The tournament finals will be streamed live during Gamespot’s On The Spot tomorrow. The fun starts at 7pm ET. It’ll be a perfect chance to see some action featuring fighters not named Chuck Liddell and Shogun Rua.
UFC 2009: Undisputed will be released on May 19. We’ll have plenty of coverage of the game in the days leading up to the release, and we’ll have reviews for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
