10 Thoughts on TNA iMPACT! – 05.07.09

Reviews, Shows, TV Shows

1) Tonight I’m trying to write these 10 thoughts after viewing the show instead of during it. I’m testing to see if I can even remember 10 things about tonight’s show. I think Kurt Angle’s “sacrifice” of giving up his spot as Godfather of the Main Event Mafia is really lame. I mean, it’s a made-up, arbitrary position. That’d be like me going to work tomorrow, declaring that I’m the new Head of Marketing, and then put up my spot before the game of ping-pong at lunch.

2) I could have sworn that TNA advertised Suicide versus Consequences Creed as an X-Division Title match. I remember the glory years of the X-Division.

3) TNA almost has interesting dynamics, with Foley as a heel but still against the Mafia, but Foley’s promos and the fact that he’s the champion really drags the whole thing down.

4) Half of the guys in the 10-man tag team match should not be wrestling anymore.

5) I can’t believe they’re paying Stevie Richards money to appear on their show for this angle. Abyss used to be a monster, now he’s a joke.

6) Speaking of jokes, I love that Daniels called out Jay Lethal for being exactly that. It’s long past time for Lethal to ditch the Macho Man imitation.

7) Kong should never talk. Ever.

8) I have a bad feeling about Taylor Wilde’s “secret admirer.” What a stupid beginning for an angle.

9) When I think about Jenna Morasca versus Sharmell, I have this uncontrollable urge to whip my wallet and just start throwing sweaty handfuls of money directly at TNA.

10) TNA has completely lost their brand identity.
