Indie News: Sapolsky On Hype, Burke Off Indie Shows

News

Gabe Sapolsky promises to treat you like an adult when it comes to promoting Dragon Gate USA:

I took the online route at my previous job by saying things like “BIG announcements are coming” or “a HUGE match will be signed next week” and so on. Now looking back I think the times have changed. Hype like this just leads to inevitable disappointment when the announcements can’t possibly live up to people’s imaginations.

Most importantly, I believe that you are sick of hearing this kind of hype. You don’t need to be led on, treated like a puppet or teased anymore. You don’t need your intelligence insulted by being told what is a “big” or “huge” announcement or surprise. When something is good or cool you know it. It’s time for all the wrestling promotions to just shut up and DELIVER.

This is OUR company. You don’t need to be talked down to. You are a part of this and you deserve the news in a mature, intelligent and on-the-level manner.

He also says that they’re working on nailing down a venue for a Chicago show over labor day weekend, which would put them in another big ROH market.

Elijah Burke blogs about being pulled from two shows for North Carolina’s Pro Wrestling Showcase and getting the run around from the promoter. According to Burke, he was replaced by Richie Steamboat on this weekend’s shows.
