Randy Orton On Super Shane, WM Main Event, Punting Vince, And Manu Being A Big Fat Jerk

News

WWE Champion Randy Orton talked with the U.K. Sun’s Simon Rothstein about his rise to the top of WWE’s flagship show, from not holding back when he punted his boss to selling for his son:

When I’m kicking Vince in the head, if it doesn’t look good on live TV, people are going to think: “Oh, he didn’t want to kick him too hard because, deep down inside, Orton knows that is his boss so he took it easy on him.” So I did the opposite. I kicked him harder.

Shane McMahon is a tough son of a bitch and he can hang with anybody. … I just think the hardcore fans didn’t like it. They disapproved, because in their minds he shouldn’t be able to hang with a top guy. … But if that’s what the hardcore fans believe then fine, because – you know what – they’ll be tuning in the next week to see what happens. So it doesn’t matter to me.

He also thinks that his main event match with Triple H at Wrestlemania was handicapped by the storyline, which really called for Hunter to deliver a righteous can of ass whip to Orton that they couldn’t pull off with the no-DQ rule. He also thinks that the card that preceded it, with Money In the Bank, the Hardys and ‘Taker/HBK being able to pull out the stops, painted them in to a corner. That said, he still thinks it deserved to main event and was happy with it.

He also says that he would pick Harry (D.H.) Smith as a fourth member of Legacy if prompted, but is happy with where the group is now, and pretty well buries Manu for having a huge ego for a WWE rookie as a way of explaining why WWE cut him loose.
