CM Punk vs. Umaga
Punk is in new Chicago Bears colored tights & boots, it seems as the crowd popped for it. Umaga dominates the early going. Grisham puts over Punk’s Chicago heritage, however Umaga begins to work over Punk’s arm. Umaga hits a splash, then Punk rolls to the apron to grab his breath, however Umaga charges with a huge foot to the face, sending Punk to the floor into the retaining wall. Punk gets back in, and Umaga gives him a springboard Banzai drop. Umaga goes for a 2nd, but Punk gets his boots up, and goes to slam Umaga, however Umaga’s weight sends Punk to his back for a 2 count. Umaga back on to working over Punk’s arms. Punk fights out, hits the ropes, but runs right into a throat chop from Umaga. Umaga goes to the top for a diving headbutt, but Punk rolls out of the way. Both men are down, and Punk is up first, Umaga charges him, and Punk pulls down the ropes, and Umaga goes to the floor, and Punk follows it with a suicide dive. Back in the ring, Umaga reverses a whip, sends Punk to the corner, but Punk dodges a charging Umaga, and then Punk runs up the ropes hitting Umaga in the face with a knee. Punk then follows it with a 2nd rope bulldog for 2. Punk with a springboard clothesline for 2. Punk is now calling for the GTS, however he can not get Umaga on his shoulders, and Umaga reverses it with a Samoan Drop for 2. Umaga is now calling for his Samoan Spike, but Punk ducks the strike, hits some kicks to Umaga’s face, goes for the GTS again, but Umaga Superkicks Punk to the corner, sitting, and then Umaga with his butt rush to Punk’s face, then the Samoan Spike for the pin.
Winner – Umaga

Vickie is in her office where Chavo comes in and tells her that John Cena has been medically cleared to compete tonight. Big Show, who was sitting there the whole time, tells Vickie that the match with Cena is not good for business, because he will be hurting him tonight. Vickie says that the WWE is bigger then any one person, and if Show takes out Cena tonight, someone else will just have to step up and take his spot. Edge comes in to speak with his wife, and Show & Chavo split.

Striker & Matthews recap last months match with Christian & Swagger at Backlash.

Christian (c) vs. Jack Swagger – ECW Championship
Christian heads to the floor early, luring Swagger out there. Swagger chases Christian in the ring, but when Christian hits the ropes, Swagger kicks him in the gut, and goes for a Guerilla Press, but Christian slides down and goes for the Killswitch, but Swagger fights out. Christian sends Swagger to the floor again, and then hits the springboard splash over the top to the floor. Christian sends Swagger back in the ring, but as Christian attempts to get in, Swagger shoves him off, sending Christian back to the floor. Swagger goes back after him, and picks Christian up and rams his gut across the ringpost. Back in the ring, Swagger goes for a Running Vader Bomb, but Christian gets his knees up, and follows it up with a 2nd rope diving European Uppercut. Christian goes to the top rope, but Swagger runs up and toss him off. Christian attempts a Sunset Flip, but Swagger sits down on it, but only gets a 2 count. Christian in the corner, Swagger charges but Christian gets on the turnbuckle, and catches Swagger and this a Tornado Reverse DDT. Both men are slow to get up, and Swagger school boy’s Christian, but grabs tights, but only getting 2. Christian goes for the Killswitch, but Swagger turns it into a belly to back suplex, and goes for the GutWrench, but Christian slides through, pulls Swaggers straps down, and rolls up Swagger, grabs the tights for the pin.
Winner – Christian

Edge leaves Vickie’s office, and Chavo is there wondering what it was all about. Chavo mentions that Edge & Vickie are not even living at the same house.

Shelton Benjamin (w/ Charlie Haas) vs. John Morrison
Shelton hits an Exploder Suplex, surprising Morrison to start. Morrison fights back, and Shelton bails out of the ring. Morrison follows him, hitting a springboard 450 splash to the floor!! Morrison tosses Shelton back in, and goes to the top, but is distracted by Haas, and Shelton hits a running boot, which sends Morrison to the floor. Shelton then dominates for a few minutes, but Morrison amps up, and goes for the Moonlight Drive, but Shelton reverses it. Morrison goes for a springboard hurracanranna, but Shelton catches him and powerbombs him in the corner. Shelton charges Morrison in the corner, but Morrison monkey flips Shelton, knocks Haas off the apron, then hits the springboard kick to Shelton’s face, and follows it with Starship Pain for the win.
Winner – Morrison

After a WM DVD ad, The Miz comes out and says big ups to Marty Jannetty…err…John Morrison. Miz then says that he would like to call out Cena, but he knows Cena will not answer the call. He then calls Cena a loveable loser, just like the Chicago Cubs. So, he wants a replacement, and calls out Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano who is sitting at ringside. He then rips on the Cubs for not winning a World Series since 1908. He wants Sori to get in the ring, but Sori won’t. Miz fakes a phone call from Cubs Manager Lou Pinella, saying that he wants Sori to get his yearly injury on the field, not off it. HAHAHA. Miz then says that since Sori won’t get in the ring, then Cena’s substitute will forfeit, making it Miz 4, Cena 0. Santino’s music hits, and Miz is all confused. Santino says that he is out to defend for his fellow Italian, Alfonso Soriano (who is not even close to being Italian, he’s Dominican). Miz & Santino brawl, but Miz gets the best of him, hitting that kneeling DDT. Chavo then runs out and Frog Splashes Santino for calling Vickie a pig.

Matthews with Chris Jericho. He complains about how Teddy Long is bias towards Mysterio because the crowd loves him. Jericho then guarantees victory tonight.

Rey Mysterio (c) vs. Chris Jericho – Intercontinental Championship
Mysterio keeps a fast pace to start the match, and getting the best of Jericho. Jericho finally slows down Mysterio, and keeps him down on the mat. Jericho charges Mysterio, but Mysterio gets his boot up, and enzaguri’s Jericho into the ropes, and Mysterio goes for the 619 only for Jericho to back body drop him. Jericho tries a suplex, but Mysterio slides through, and hits the ropes, goes for a leg scissors, but Jericho catches him, hoists him up in a torture rack position, then drops to his knees for a backbreaker. Jericho goes to remove Mysterio’s mask (again, ha!), but Mysterio fights him off. Mysterio charges, but Jericho hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for 2. Mysterio bounces back, and sets Jericho up for the 619 again, but Jericho catches Mysterio’s legs and locks in the Walls! Mysterio fights out of it and rolls up Jericho for 2. Mysterio drop toe hold’s Jericho into the turnbuckle, and Mysterio hits the 619, and follows it with the springboard splash for the pin.
Winner – Rey Mysterio

Video package on Orton vs. Batista.

Randy Orton (c) vs. Batista – WWE Championship
Orton is slow to start, bailing out of the ring a few times before the match really gets underway. This match has had a very slow boring pace. Orton gets the best of Batista on the floor, and then pulls him in through the ropes, and hits a DDT with Batista propped on the ropes. Batista is very slow to get up, and Orton lines up to punt Batista’s head, but as he charges, Batista spears Orton. Orton rolls out of the ring and wants to be counted out, but Batista goes out and tosses Orton back in. Orton escapes again, and grabs a chair, and looks to be intentionally DQed, but Batista knocks the chair out of Orton’s hands. Orton then grabs the WWE Title Belt and starts to walk up the ramp. Batista grabs him again, and puts him in the ring, and nails a Spinebuster. Orton then slaps the ref to cause the DQ.
Winner via DQ – Batista

Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase then come out and jump Batista almost right away, but then WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO plays over the speakers and Ric Flair makes the save!

Recap of Show putting Cena through the Spotlight last month.

John Cena vs. Big Show
Cena tries to avoid Show, but Show catches him, and works over Cena’s gut. I am no lying, there is 8 minutes of nothing in this match. Cena gets some offense in finally, hits the 5 knuckle shuffle, and then tries a STFU, but he can not reach Show’s head. Show lays Cena out, and then hits the Vader Bomb for 2. Show walks over Cena, and goes for a 2nd Vader Bomb, but Cena rolls out of the way, and tries to get on Show’s back, attempting another STFU, but, again, he can not reach. Cena kicks Show in the head, and then hits the 2nd rope Famasser, but again can not lock in the STFU. Show shoves him off, and gets his fist ready for a KO punch, but Cena ducks the punch and lifts Show up and hits the FU for the pin.
Winner – Cena

Jeff is holding his back, sends Edge to the ring, and then plays to the crowd on the apron, so Edge spears Jeff in the back, sending Jeff back to the floor. Edge has now taken his time to work over the small of Jeff’s back. Edge goes for the Impaler, but Jeff reverses it, drops Edge on his back and lock on the Sharpshooter! Edge then crawls to the ropes. As Edge is getting up, Jeff hits a Twist of Fate, but doesn’t get everything on it, and only gets 2. Jeff goes to the top, but Edge goes up as well, but Jeff hits a Sunset Flip powerbomb off the top for 2! Jeff tosses Edge to the floor and tosses him on the announce table. Jeff rips the padding off the retaining wall, and goes to run the wall, but Edge is up on the table, and he spears Jeff has Jeff leaps toward him, and they land on the floor. Jeff tries to get back in the ring, but Edge goes to spear him, but Jeff dodges it, catches Edge and gives him a Twist of Fate in the ring ropes. Jeff sends Edge to the corner of the retaining wall, and hits a Whisper in the Wind off the steps, sending both of them over the wall into the crowd. Jeff tosses Edge back over the wall, but as Jeff is going over, Matt Hardy runs through the crowd and strikes Jeff in the back of the head with his cast. Edge tosses Jeff back in the ring, and goes for a spear, but Jeff leaps it and Edge goes head first into the ring post. Jeff struggles to the top rope for a Swanton, but Edge is already up, and he grabs Jeff, and hits an Impaler off the top rope for the pin!
Winner – Edge
