Late Indie Wrestler Won Ric Flair Card

The Beckett Blog’s Chris Olds has a story about how much winning one of 15 Ric Flair cards the company gave away touched the life of indie wrestler Tim Robertson. Roberston, whose ring name was Tank, died of an apparent allergic reaction last week. His widow wrote an e-mail to Beckett to let them know how much winning an autographed Flair card, the first of its kind, meant to her husband.

Flair wasn’t just his favorite wrestler but his late father’s as well. He had carried on his dad’s tradition of collecting Flair memorabilia. Robertson wrote in his contest essay that the only thing he needed to complete his collection was Flair’s autograph, which he had yet to obtain due to his having never met the man.

Olds’s widow also mentioned his wrestling experience. He had worked with the likes of Jerry Lawler, Rikishi, and Kamala on the indie circuit.
