Donald Cerrone’s first round submission over James Krause last night at WEC 41 has earned Cerrone another shot at Jamie Varner’s lightweight championship.
In the first Varner/Cerrone matchup, Cerrone was disqualified for an illegal knee to the downed Varner. Since that time, Varner has had multiple injury issues and hasn’t been able to face Cerrone in a rematch, but WEC general manager Reed Harris confirmed to MMA Junkie last night that Cerrone’s next fight would be against Varner, and it would be for the championship.
