Austin Aries did just what he said he would last Saturday in New York City. He shocked the crowd by claiming the ROH World Championship for an unprecedented second time. Former champion, Jerry Lynn, was visibly shaken after the bout, having fallen to Tyler Black’s Small Package Driver to be the first man eliminated in the contest. The classy Lynn refused comment, and was comforted backstage by Colt Cabana. Tyler Black was a mix of dejection and rage after the bout, knowing that Jimmy Jacobs had gotten into his head and forced him to act when maybe he shouldn’t have. “I thought it was the right time,” said Black. “I was so wrapped up in what Jacobs pulled in the First Blood match, I – I just wanted to make it right. And I was consumed, and I lost focus, and I lost. I lost. It won’t happen again.” Black faces Nigel McGuinness on Friday Night in Philadelphia, and then will take on Jimmy Jacobs inside a Steel Cage on the 26th in Detroit before facing KENTA on the 27th in Chicago. The going isn’t getting any easier for Tyler.

Aries has been scheduled to face old rival Roderick Strong in Philly on Saturday, and after his title win in New York, ROH officials began talks with Aries to see if he’s willing to put the belt on the line on HDNet. Aries’ comments on this matter will be seen in this week’s ROH Videowire.

We have been informed that Jon Davis of the Dark City Fight Club has been deemed medically unfit to wrestle this weekend as part of the ROH on HDNet National TV Tapings at the Arena in South Philly. As we all know, Davis had intricate surgery to repair several dislocations and ligament damage in his wrist. Neither Davis, nor Kory Chavis, has returned phone calls from ROH officials in reference to this news.

Ring of Honor and HDNet roll back into Philadelphia on Friday and Saturday night to film six more weeks of ROH on HDNet! Without question, two of the biggest breakout stars on the program are Kenny King and Rhett Titus. Since hooking up with Austin Aries, they’ve seen a meteoric rise through the ROH tag team ranks, and to that end, they’ve just signed for a huge tag team match! On Saturday, King and Titus will find themselves against perhaps their biggest test. A victory here could propel King and Titus over the proverbial “hump”, and they will attempt to defeat the most prolific tag team in ROH history – Jay and Mark – The Briscoe Brothers! This will mark the first time in several months that the former five time ROH World Tag Team Champions will stand together in battle. Can King and Titus ‘man up’, or will the Briscoes dispatch them on their way to revenge on the Wolves?

Speaking of the Wolves, we already know that El Generico will have his shot at personal redemption as he gets his hands on Davey Richards one-on-one on Friday night. We’re happy to announce that on Friday, Kevin Steen will also get the chance to hunt a Wolf as he’ll take on Eddie Edwards in singles competition. This is an ROH on HDNet rematch from Episode Two, and now after the events at Manhattan Mayhem III, the stakes have never been higher! The Wolves have proven deadly when running together, but can Steen and Generico uncover their weaknesses when they’re by themselves? Tickets are now on sale for both nights of action this weekend in Philadelphia at www.rohwrestling.com.

Speaking of Steen and Generico and their saga with the American Wolves, the fans of New York saw Davey Richards blatantly use the ring bell to attack El Generico’s injured knee, and moments later, he was tapping out to Edwards’ Achilles Lock. Both Steen and Generico have been on the phone with ROH officials seemingly non-stop since last Saturday, livid over how the match ended. Steen has demanded a rematch, and while ROH officials agree wholeheartedly and have been trying to sign another bout, Richards and Edwards have been completely nonchalant about the matter. “Why should we fight them again,” said Edwards. “They’re old news, they’re losers, and we’ve proven who the best tag team in the world is. We’ve outwrestled them, out-fought them, and we’ve out-toughed them. They sure as hell don’t deserve another crack at our titles.” We will have more comments from the Wolves in the upcoming ROH Videowire. More on this as it develops.

After an impressive debut in Manassas last weekend, ROH officials are happy to announce that Shawn Spears will debut in Philadelphia on July 17th and 18th as part of the National Television tapings for ROH and HDNet.

Jimmy Rave was defeated, but managed to avoid destruction at the hands of the Necro Butcher in New York. Necro once again showed more wrestling skill than people give him credit for by rolling Rave up. But that didn’t stop the Embassy from attacking the Butcher, with Rave applying the Heel Hook until Colt Cabana could run them off. Necro was ready for war backstage, screaming “Rave!” over and over while searching everywhere for the Crown Jewel. Necro vowed, “This war has just begun!”
